Huh. I got to thinking about it, and making a merge tool would probably be even easier than a notify mod button. The background work is literally as simple as updating a table with information from another table then deleting the thread. It probably wouldn't take an experienced programmer more than a half hour to write, test, and update. The interface might take a little bit longer, but the actual function is simple.

Noah posted on tBB that message board improvements are pushed back to 2013. As a whiny free loader I have but one complaint: no notify mod button. Most 247 boards get trolled pretty hard. I'm not talking about Tanfan or any other regular poster. I'm talking the lame schticks and other fan bases, as well as the losers who show up any time were losing a game simply to troll. It would be so nice just to have a button to click so the first available mod can take a look and see if someone needs a time out. It would also help poor Kitemac on tBB for when Mr. Maryland decides to drop the N bomb in the flame thread. As a novice programer, the programing is just so easy and the value do great I can't wrap my head around why they haven't done this.

Even simpler than that...just update each post records' thread ID with the target thread ID. Time stamp on each post automagically puts everything in the proper order. Simple stored procedure with 2 inputs. Simple web page too. Old thread text box, new thread text box, & Ok button with an 'are you sure' step before commit. Throw in a little javascript to check entered data and display the old and new thread names & you're off to the races.
I'd allocate 1 day total for development & testing.

Eek, good point. Yes, that is the simpler solution. So the back end just needs to pull the two thread id's, and update all items with the thread id from the thread that is getting nuked to the thread id of the thread that is going on. So 3 minutes of code tops for someone familiar with the way the database is structured.

No. I think you believe that since the message board is lacking, there is "limited progress". Ths issue isn't that nothing is going on with 247. It's that it's nothing that you care about yet. Message board enhancements don't make them money despite how badly tRCMB wants them.
The conspiracy paranoia seems to be unfounded so far.

I know we create more page views and impressions than any other 247 site, but don't have the number of paying members. Should this not give Trevor more clout, as it significantly enhances the ad revenue for the network?

The "limited progress" is not perceived. It has been observed and stated.
They said there would be improvements. Then they said they could not implement them because traffic exceeded expectations and f'ed their piss poor database design all up.
They said there would be an iPhone app. Didn't they? It was in the works before we even moved over here according to Trevor. Where did it go? Two years to write an app?
Traffic makes them money. Doesn't it? VIPs just pay for the writers.
Doesn't tRCMB drive the traffic here? The message board part?

People see what they want to see. I see the stuff that that have been doing with the recruiting DB and that side of the house. You don't see message board improvements. You see someone that is concerned about the state of affairs on a college sports message board site. I see someone who hasn't stopped whining in 17 months.
I don't know what is going to happen here, but my feeling is that absolutely everything else is more important than the message board. Nobody buys subs to a message board (unless you're a fricking weirdo on tRCMB) and even though traffic generates a little money, it's never been enough to drive a network. It couldn't do it on the old board either. If it could, we would have never had memberships over there either.

So tRCMB did change. It was a MB that was a place for MSU alum/fans to gather adn talk about things in an easy and creative way, and is now a business that focuses on male teenagers. Instead of the focus being the community it is recruiting.

I see they work on the recruiting DB.
I also saw everything related to what they said was going to happen but did not.
I see that the board "upgrades" they do implement are poorly thought out garbage. They cared enough about the message boards to code a confirm button for downvotes FFS.
I see that Trevor says our subs pay for Spartan Tailgate writers, not the 247 Network. If subs don't pay for the network, then traffic must. We bring the traffic. We pay for the network.

That's like blaming the drivers because a go-kart race isn't as compelling as a NECKCAR race.
1. There is no more vBookie content. 2. The lack of rich text formatting limits content. 3. The lack of multi-quote limits content. 4. The lack of post reporting absolutely kills content at times. 5. The inline pic issue is a killer as well. 6. Dogshit search function & no forum spy make it very difficult to track items you're interested in.
