How can a "scorer" be so damn bad at shooting? Stop taking threes, then. They are playing 7 feet off of him. Take a dribble and pop an 16 footer.

I think Appling needs to shoot. With the open looks it's the perfect time for him to get his confidence back. He made shots last year and can be a good shooter, just needs to find it again

Have a guy screen in front of him and blow to the hoop, or screen in front and then have the screen-er step back and an easy toss back from Appling for the screen-er to shoot an open jumper.

On a run with Appling on the bench. If he comes in and runs the team like he is capable, I will eat crow. Until then, he really needs to figure out why he's being so passive. Anybody can sit up at the top of the key and dribble the ball with the defender 12 feet off of them.
