Things you could've bought instead of paying MSU parking tickets

Maybe you should devote some of your "ass busting" to following the rules.

I bet you're a riot at parties. "Hey, this keg says you have to be 21 to drink, but no one's enforcing it!"

  • According to the MSU Annual Police Report, there were 121,785 parking violations issued in 2010...that averages to about three a student, correct? Not whining, not saying we should all go to prison...just making a point.

I'd wager that a huge chunk of that is visitors parking in areas they didn't know they couldn't park in.

My roommate got one. Decided he wanted to fight it so he went to the parking office at the police station to contest it. He was told that the lady he needed to talk to had decided to take the rest of the day off and went home early so he would have to make an appointment for the next day. He made an appointment for the next day and lost his appeal. They then made him pay 15 instead of 10 since it had been over 24 hours, despite the fact that the only reason he waited that long was because the bitch had decided to take the rest of the day off...

They've turned screwing people over into an art form.

oh no, you don't ever try to out-fuck the MSU Meter Patrols. just take your losses and move on.

  • Why can't we just build a huge parking structure that has a per semester rate that isn't absurd and affordable? I live out in Chandlers so biking isnt possible. I take the bus but it takes 30+ minutes just to get on campus. Because I am on campus for 8+ hours at a time, .80 cents per 30 is a little insane. If I'm going to be late I just park at the football stadium and wait until the gates open for free at 10pm. Not sure if there are better ways of doing things.

PS - Do those nazi patrols get paid commission? They'd have to right?

  • Maybe if they didnt screw students over like this they would be more likely to donate after graduation. Last ticket i got was during a final at the end of law school. Was late and the shaw ramp was almost empty, pulled in, fed the meter and took the test. Got back to see a ticket. Apparently that meter either broke or was already broke. So i paid and still got screwed. Appealed and lost. Now i will only donate to football.

  • +1 to the OP for acknowledging he was over the time limit and shrugging it off.

lol Get off your high horse. I work full time so I can pay my way through school. The rules are in place for a reason: to steal money from hard working college students. I realize that. Don't treat me as some sort of naive child, because I'm willing to bet I bust my ass harder to pay my way through school than you did when you were an undergrad, and undoubtedly had daddy footing the bill for you to get drunk. You probably had to learn that the world doesn't revolve around you after college, but that doesn't mean everyone else is a selfish son of a bitch.

Oh, and it's "more smoothly". Hopefully that employee permit isn't for any educational job. biggrin

The fact that you assume no one else worked hard to get through college just proves my point.
