Quite frankly I don't care if they were on the bag or not. Both were very routine plays where Peralta should have made a better throw so it wasn't in the umps hands. Two easy plays where he should have hit the guy in the chest and he screwed them both up.

Agree. Others here are whining and blaming the umps. Both calls were correct.

Sounds like it by the likes of this thread. People call out Jhonny Peralta for bad throws and they get attacked for it. Sorry for holding a a guy who has piss-poor range but is known for accurate throws accountable when he botches two throws in the same inning that leads to the winning run.

    1) Jhonny definitely has poor range and is not a good fielder.

    2) Jhonny didn't "botch" two throws. He executed them with extreme clumsiness. But he executed the throws nonetheless. Both runners were out.

    3) The umps blew two close calls which directly led to the Cubs plating the winning run.

These things are all consistent and they're all true.

  • If they get swept by the Cubs, the season should be canceled.

The point I tried to make earlier in the thread though is that both plays were easy enough that they shouldn't have been left up to the umpire. The umpiring has been brutal all around the league this year, when they blow calls now it shouldn't come as a shock. When you have a chance to make an easy play and get the guy out by a wide enough margin to take the umpire's judgement out of it, you have to make the play. Don't give the umpires the chance to screw up the call.

Agree...they were both more than routine for a professional SS.
