Have never seen a batted ball do that, hit off the top of the fence and end up in someone's glove.
Think anything over the yellow line is a home run, though.

According to MLB grounds rule, the yellow line is "in-play". The ball should have been considered live, like any ball that caroms off a fence.
The umps messed up the call and awarded a ground-rule double.

OUTFIELD AREA
Batted ball in flight striking padding below the top of outfield wall and caroming into stands: Two Bases.
Batted ball in flight striking above padding: Home Run.
The universal ground rule is that all yellow lines are in play.

I agree, I think in some parks there are yellow lines painted on walls. Where HR's are possible without it getting into the stands.

Most parks have their own ground rules, so there are exceptions to these universal rules. The rules for Comerica don't help much, though.

Yeah, I read the park specific rule for Comerica as well, but it didn't seem to supercede the universal rule... then again, it may have.
I dunno, definitely a grey area. I think that's why he umps just said eff it and gave a ground rule double.
