Tigers making a big move?

  • Some tiny twitter charter about Nick Castellanos being taken out early last night at Erie...

    Commence freak out...

  • Moving him to the Hens?

And by the way, there was one single tweet about it, so unless you are @blessyouboys and self promoting, then you ran here and posted the text from one tweet that is a source I have never heard of.

Why freak out? He's the only chip they have.

  • Not sure there's anyone on the market yet that they would trade him for.

  • There was some speculation yesterday on 97.1 about an impending move because Smokey dropped a line on DD or Ryan Field or someone who was questioning him on the Raburn call up. He said something like "you'll see..." and I don't think he meant it to imply that Raburn was going to start hitting (even though he did!)

Well most twitter noise came yesterday, the press was told to "be in early" yesterday and Nick C did come out early last night for unexplained reasons.

I'm not blessyouboys, and haven't posted on their board in a long time, but it's like the RCMB of the Tigers. Fairly large and popular blog/board.

Does that give more validity to their posts? No, buy yesterdays noise and last nights NC move at Erie is defiantly some smoke.

  • Minor injury, nothing more.

  • I would be surprised if they moved him. There was a ton of buzz yesterday about the Tigers making moves. Not much today. Wonder if something fell through or if Leyland was just screwing with the writers.

    Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

  • Leyland's non announcement announcement yesterday.

The Bruce Levine reports on the radio and ESPN Chicago that Dempster had met with GM Epstein about a possible trade makes me think the Tigers still might make a trade for the 35 year old Dempster ala the '87 Smoltz for Alexander trade or at least Dombrowski was working on it and it couldn't be worked out.

No way they trade their sole position player prospect for a 4th or 5th starter guy.

  • Not sure about Dempster. Garza maybe.

@TigsTownMark Regarding Castellanos' removal from the game last night, sounds like a minor injury issue, nothing serious

  • I'm trying to figure out when he was injured.

K'ed to start the top 5th...
Does not bat in the 6th

Not involved in any defensive play in the bot of 5th

Taken out prior to start of bot. 6th.

took a foul ball off the foot in his AB in the 5th. went out in the bottom 5th, but had trouble pushing off and was taken out as a precaution. going in (or already has) x-rays done today.

JT is still a very good prospect. He just turned 21 and continues to slowly move up the prospect rankings. Funny thing is it goes to show how its not worth it to give a 20 yr old spot starts in the majors before they're ready. It's crazy reading countless posts about people who assume Turner isn't a good trade piece anymore because he struggled in 12 innings for the Tigers last year. We could still get a ton for him at the deadline if needed. Consistent low 3 ERA and sub 1.2 WHIP during his minor league career. He probably won't be an Ace, but he's going to be a solid #2-#3 starter in the majors for a long time. He needs at least another full year of minor league ball though.
