I would call Kaline 'great'. If you made me choose just a hitter, though, I would choose Cabrera over Kaline only because Cabrera hits for more power than Kaline did. Again, that's hitting only. Defensively, Al was the best right fielder this club has ever had given his great defense and strong throwing arm.
It would be heaven on earth to have another Kaline-type hitter in this lineup to go with Cabrera, Jackson and Fielder. Won't happen, but I can dream...

Laird might be in consideration for player of the game after getting trucked by Prince and protecting the plate so well on those two plays at the plate. And going on to catch the rest of the game, impressive stuff.

Delmon apparently will get the day off after his homer yesterday,
"Berry and Raburn will both start Friday against Kansas City in a chain-of-events lineup move by Leyland.
The manager said Cabrera would be the designated hitter, Ramon Santiago would shift to third, Raburn would play second and Berry would go to left."

Ramon has played 37 total innings at third base in his career, and has 2 errors for an .833 fielding percentage.
Just for comparison he has a .986 and .975 fielding percentage at 2B and SS respectively.

He was drafted as a third baseman and played roughly his first 288 pro games there. I really don't remember him ever playing there though. It seems like he plays a few games there a year and it has just added up over the past 7 seasons.

If Raburn has to play, I would prefer him in the outfield. Although he has more experience at 3rd than Ramon, he was moved off of that position after blowing a game (against the Royals) a couple seasons ago with two late game errors.
