To the skeptics that said the iPad was just a big iPhone....

  • Suck it....

The chief executive of Apple, Timothy D. Cook, has a prediction: the day will come when tablet devices like the Apple iPad outsell traditional personal computers. His forecast has backing from a growing number of analysts and veteran technology industry executives, who contend that the torrid growth rates of the iPad, combined with tablet competition from the likes of Amazon.com and Microsoft, make a changing of the guard a question of when, not if.

As New iPad Debut Nears, Some See Decline of PCs - NYTimes.com

The iPad, considered a side business for Apple when it was introduced in 2010, accounted for $9.15 billion in revenue in the holiday quarter, about 20 percent of Apple’s total revenue.

I disagree. I travel a lot so I love my iPad but I also bring my laptop and havew a desktop in my office. I need all 3 to do my job.

I actually have a tablet and will probably be buying an iPad 3 when they come out, but the iPad is literally a giant iPhone (sans phone modem). I'm not sure how that's arguable lol

The iPhone is a terrific phone with many useful apps, it will never replace a computer because of its size limitations. The iPad can virtually replace a computer for many people and in time probably for everyone. I could go on and on with examples of apps that are so much more useful on the iPad as opposed to the iPhone (word and excel for example) but you would just keep repeating your mantra.

My point is that when the iPad first came out so many knuckleheads couldn't understand how it was anything but a big iPhone. It is now obvious it is so much more.

Please name one thing an iPad can do that an iPhone cannot...

You mention "size limitations"... so what you are saying is that the iPad is a really big iPhone.

The iPad doesn't require you to pay Verizon or AT&T a monthly phone bill.

  • Nothing in the open changes or argues tuw idea that the ipad IS a big phone. It doesn't matter what you're using it for, it is still designed the same.

And before you attack me save it. I own an ipad and just recently got rid of my iPhone.

You guys are missing the point, the size alone makes it a completely different experience. The naysayers predicted it was pointless, stupid and wouldn't fly. Why would I want a giant IPhone when I've got a laptop? You were wrong.

  • Why if it's just a giant iPhone didn't anyone ever suggest an iPhone could be a laptop replacement? Why if it's just a giant iPhone is the iPad doing just that? Again your missing the point if you say TECHNICALLY it is a giant iPhone, that is not the point of this thread The original proposition by many of you was that it was a pointless device if I've already got a laptop. You were wrong. Just admit it.

You're starting to sound like a crazy person. Do you or do you not have a shrine to Steve Jobs?

Even Trevor is thinking, "Whoa, let's simmer down on the iPad rants."

I'm British. The 'e' comes before the 'p' by the way. So you corrected me by spelling it incorrectly yourself.
