Tom Crean Chews Out Michigan Assistant After Win

  • Interesting that Meyer is in charge of recruiting Indiana for um, guess they made the call that he had the unlimited connections there.

  • I can't stand Crean.

    But this would be a lot more interesting if I knew what Meyer actually did to "wreck the program" or what dirty things he might be doing now at UM. The latter would be a lot more interesting as I can't see any good reason going after a guy 3 years later at the worst possible time like that. Heck, he could be thanking him for the job opening.

    I think it's finally hitting some on this board who were viewing him with former Green colored glasses just how much of a prick he is. Going to Marquette for grad school, I've heard quite a few horror stories of his time in Milwaukee, and how much of an a-hole he was and his general treatment of people. This guy was and always will be a douche.

    In the words of the immortal Wade Garrett from Roadhouse, Tom Crean was born an asshole and just grew bigger.

    Why now? This is the 8th time Crean has coached against Meyer sine he "helped wreck the program".

    If I had to guess, I'd say it was because of the adrenaline. Not just because of the last-second win, but also the culmination of a multi-year effort to turn around a program that was left in shambles when you took over. And with that outright championship milestone reached, he was probably feeling very emboldened at that point and wanted Meyer to know -- I overcame you.

    I realize he's coached against him before, but it would be hard to say something when you are a below .500 BT program the last three years (as Crean was.) Everyone realizes Crean is a good coach again, but he was undoubtedly feeling a lot of internal pressure to succeed, if not external. And he probably knew the external pressure would be coming if he didn't live up to expectations this year.

    Lot of emotions, I'm sure.

  • Why does almost every Indiana game seem to have some kind of embarrassing fallout afterwords. In the last few weeks we have:

    1. Zeller grabbing Nix's arm and pulling it into his own nads.
    2. Instructing a player to fake a shot to the head
    3. Cutting down the nets after losing
    4. And now this

    ...can't wait to see what comes next as the pressure is going to increase the rest of the way

  • Crean disserves at least a one game suspension in the BTT for the league to say "chill out, shut up, and get over yourself. If your going to act like a three year old, then we are going to give you a timeout like a three year old." But as we all know about Delany's selective enforcement and plays favorites, so that'll never happen.

    This is what people need to realize about UW fan's feelings toward Crean. There are a lot of Badger fans who live in Milwaukee and they have a lot of stories about horrible Crean was to fans, assistants, and Marquette staff in his time there.

    For example, here's a post on Buckyville today:

    "i work marquette camps in the summer.. and i've heard 0 good things about Crean from coaches that have worked with him at the camp and former managers. 0."

    Add in the oversigning/running kids off, the sore losing, and the hypocritical tweets and there's just very little to like about the guy.

    Wisconsin has beaten Crean 9 straight times at Indiana. Izzo has beaten Wisconsin 5 straight times. I'd have Izzo over to my house for dinner tonight and I'd go shopping today to prepare him a nice meal. I'd lock my door and leave Crean on my front porch if he showed up. It has nothing to do with jealousy.

    I was thinking the same thing.

    It can be described with adjectives I rarely get to use: Indiana is whacky and their coach does, says, and instructs his players to do some cockamamy things.

    Haha so true though. Not saying were immune but it is funny to watch as an outsider.
