Trenton Robinson Filed Citizen's Complaint Over Ticket

That's why I posted it here, I was hoping the RCMB would destroy. Looks like a pretty classy pig.

wannabe football player jealous of TROB, I guarentee that his dumb ass heard TROB's name on the radio and got a boner.

    Wal-verine douche bag.

Why isnt it still possible to file a civil claim against the police dept asking for money or dismissal of this douche????

    We cant let this stand.

Because one would have to be acquitted of the underlying charge first (or have the charge dismissed) before being eligible to file a civil rights claim.

some how I dont see how that is correct. So the cops throw you in jail for a false charge, judge gives you time but after you would have no recourse????

I hope the detroit sports shows pick this up tomorrow, enough with the f'ing Giants and Pats. Who cares about those teams or new york/boston.

I dont see how that relevant? he could technically be guilty of the traffic infraction but that do sent excuse the officer behaviors. Im no lawyer but being guilty of a crime do sent mean you loose your civil rights. There are lots of people who plead no contest becuase they decide that fighting the case would be more a burden than the punishment itself.

  • Suspicion of using needles? WTF? Tracks TR down an hour later after reading a Facebook post to give him a ticket? How can the police stand by this cops behavior?

One wonders, doesn't one, whether that officer was also questioned as part of the "investigation," or if it was just one (non-officer) person's word against another's? TRob's complaint, after all, did reference that Officer Friendly was the last officer to join the party.

Contact your Congressman. Having a not guilty finding or dismissal is a baseline requirement for bringing federal suit under §1983. (This is why people like Justice Clarence Thomas, a United States Supreme Court justice, are full of hogwash. Thomas is on record as thinking that the "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine, barring from use at trial evidence that police obtained in violation of the constitution, has outlived its usefulness because there is an alternative to the defendant -- filing suit against the police officer for violating his civil rights under color of law. Um, no, genius, most likely the defendant will first have been CONVICTED, meaning he will be INELIGIBLE to file suit under §1983. Meaning that police can and will violate peoples' rights because they will then be able to get more convictions and suffer NO consequences for their illegal acts. Follow me here, GENIUS.)

But I digress. It's an element of the suit, at least under federal law, that must be proven or your lawsuit is tossed. nedgo may be able to tell you whether it's the same under Michigan state law. All the points you raise are valid concerns about the application of that law, but it's still the law. Until you and people like you express your concerns to your Senators/Members of Congress, and ask them to change the law.

Read 'Spartan safety’s racial profiling complaint falls on mostly deaf ears' from our blog Dr. Saturday on Yahoo! Sports. Trenton Robinson might not have the easiest time getting around in his hometown of Bay City, Mich., for the foreseeable future after filing a complaint against police for excessive force, racial profiling and using vulgar language during a traffic stop. … Continue reading →

Ah yes, tRCMB is doing good work here.

Trenton Robinson is a great man, and a great Spartan. I'm glad the Gestapo tactics of a cop (who apparently checks Facebook while on the job) are being brought to light.

    rockon

    Well done sir.

Time to voice our displeasure. This whole thing reeks of arrogance. A cop who wasn't even there when the car was pulled over issues a ticket for "failing to use a signal". Total BS. Not to mention that he acted like an ass, then issues the ticket an hour later in a public restaurant, all in response to a Facebook post. Makes you wonder how he even knew about the FB post, or why he felt he needed to retaliate for harassment, since Robinson never mentioned which cop was out of line.

I hope everyone here copies the above contact info, then sends it, along with the linked article to Spartans everywhere. Let's let the Bay City officials know what we think of their police tactics, and maybe they'll do something to change them.

    Rodeo Burger

  • Did the officer admit to saying "I like your facebook post"

If he did, he's the stupidest cop ever.
