Trey Burke: He gone! He's staying! (UPDATE: Who cares?)

  • UPDATE:

    CBS: Trey Burke, he gone

    http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/18297608/trey-burke-expected-to-leave-michigan-for-nba

    ------------------------------

WOTS is that Trey Burke is leaning heavily towards leaving for the NBA.

Actually, Sam Webb says he is gone, but Chris Balas (who I believe only writes about his hatred for MSU/Dantonio/Izzo) says he gets the feeling he'll be back.

    I have 2 thoughts:

    1. LOL
    2. I want a Tweet from Hollis about pursuing dreams

I refuse to believe Burke is gone until he issues a statement. It makes no sense.

That hasn't stopped a lot of kids from going too early.

    He gone.

UM goes back to the basement of the Big Ten. They should be fighting Penn State and Nebraska for not being dead last.

It doesn't need to make sense, he's young and he wants to make the jump. He's looking for reasons to go (regardless of what he's told), and once you do that, it's hard to reverse course.

With a weak PG draft, he might think this is his best bet, even if he isn't a 1st rounder.

Not to mention, B__ has a poor history of keeping his talented players happy. He might be running FROM something, as much as running TO something.

  • If Webb is saying he is gone, he is gone. Kid's making a mistake IMO, but maybe he just really doesn't like playing for Beilien.

Sam Webb@Umichfan79 based on info i heard tonight, it's now my OPINION odds no longer favor #michigan retaining trey. Nothing set in stone though

A reason he might leave is if he just doesn't like school. That happens.

Even if he doesn't make an NBA roster he can make a nice living without the hassel of going to class which he may think is better than carrying 12 credits plus basketball.

I have zero doubt he wants to go. His last 10 games of Hot Sauce play told me that. I can't believe there is anyone with any knowledge telling him this is a good idea.

I just want him too make a decision one way or the other so all this nonsense can end. All this talk and media coverage about what maybe a borderline first rounder is crazy.

  • Maybe he wants to go at the same time his good friend Jared Sullinger goes? I don't know, but maybe he's been told he's a possible late 1st rounder. Michigan will have fun if they make the NIT next year without Trey.

  • Tbh he should go if the NBA is indeed a dream of his. No better opportunity than the very weak PG class this year.

He's not going to get much taller so the height argument is overblown. He had a great year in college and coming back and regressing even slightly could seriously jeopardize his stock.

Do you mess up "to" and "too" on purpose? I swear you were just called out in a different thread for this. Even Claiborne knows the difference.

Hopefully he's taking Hollis' advice to heart. thumbsup

Also, if the main knock is his size, he can't do much about that. It then becomes the difference between going now or waiting but dealing with the same drawback down the road.

I forgot he was teammates with Sullinger. If Sully gave him any advice, it would be that his stock will never be higher (even if it isn't all that great right now). I have no doubts that Sully wishes he had gone early, especially after that article after the Kansas game basically called him a pussy with business having NBA dreams.

I can't even imagine how bad the whining about Hollis' tweet will be if Burke goes to the NBA. They'll claim attempt of murder of their basketball program and will demand that Delaneyban Hollis from the Big Ten.

I live in Charlotte and A LOT was made of a writer in Ames, Iowa saying he knew for a fact that Harrison Barnes was 90-10 returning to Chapel Hill. Clearly that didn't come true. I would just wait to hear it from the horses mouth.
