Trey Burke. He gone? UM basketball gone too?

Based on what? Seriously I'm no scout and im not objective but the only thing I see about him that is remotely reminiscent of the nba is his name. What am I missing? Am I just blinded by hate?

The NBA has one criteria, potential.

spot on....but we all said the same thing about Lewan and he is coming back. (for whatever reason) If he does come back they're gonna be a bitch. Conversely, we will have some losses to deal with.....meh, whatever. As always: eff Michigan

If Burke and AP came back MSU and UM could be preseason 1 and 2.

It'll be interesting. Burke is the only significant loss from this year's team (Huge loss, I realize). I'm assuming Hardaway is back next year.

They add in Zak Irvin, the #9 shooting guard recruit in the country and the #34 overall player in the class of 2013. They also add Derrick Walton from Detroit, the #10 point guard and #47 overall recruit.

The team won't be a disaster next year, but they'll need some guys to take a step from this year to next.

Hardaway, Burke, and GRIII are all as good as gone. They are all mid first round picks for some reason, and they'd be stupid to return with those forecasts. Hardaway may come back, but GRIII is looking at the bottom of the lottery and Burke is right there with them.

athleticism and potential. and he had some huge games against shitty teams that got the NBA drooling. he hasn't dropped at all in mocks in the last few months, most predicting him to go in the 12-15 range. He gone.

  • Has umaa been able to convince any guard who was told he could be drafted to stay beyond 2 years in the last 2 decades?

Tell tale sign will be if Burke attends any classes between now and their last game

I'll enjoy Michigan's fall back into irrelevance biggrin

Nah haven't you heard they beat Izzo for Derrick Walton, and they have Spike! They wont miss Burke at all. After all, everyone said they'd be screwed without Morris!

Apparently lightning strikes every year in AA.

The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.

I was going to call you crazy, then I checked a couple mock drafts and people actually have GR3 top 15 and Hardaway 1st round. I don't understand it, but good for us I guess.

Just shows that if BJ had a decent jump shot and could dribble he'd be in the lottery.

Not at all. It's amazing anyone considers him NBA worthy right now.

Will be funny when Kentucky is preseason #1

A deep run in the tournament and Payne back for next year and MSU shouldn't start lower than third.

Funny how they said "MSU football will return to a perennial 6-6 team.. they won't catch lightning in a bottle with guys like Worthy and Cousins every year" and yet they think their basketball program is now a legitimate Top 10 team perennially..

Yup, if Hitler was 6'8", freakishly athletic and could drain 3s, he'd be drafted top 10.

I'd hope Hardaway would be smart enough to realize he can't create his own shot. Without Burke/Morris to push off defenders, drive and kick to him Hardaway is a statue.

Yep. Stauskas has a more complete game that Timmy. He's white though, so he's viewed as the catch and shoot guy.

Only because he's European. A white American wouldn't get drafted, unless they were a center.

Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub

Is McGary going to get much better between age 22 and 23 ?

i thought it was nuts too and then did the same thing. I've since checked all the main NBA draft sites and multiple mocks to see where OUR guys might be since Harris and Payne have improved so much - yet while they haven't risen much at all GRIII has barely moved from the bottom of the lottery since January and Hardaway has slipped only a little into the 20s. Most don't have a single Spartan higher than the 50s, and that's usually Dawson. Harris has moved into that range on a few, but that's it. it's weird.

w/ GRIII it's 100% potential as he is an athletic kid and has shown some flashes of potential. Burke is obviously very good. But Hardaway? Guy has had maybe 5 good games in conference play. it simple makes no sense. His stock is 100% pedigree and the fact that he looks the part even if he can't hit shit more often than not.

I honestly think all 3 are leaving, and we'll get everyone back and be in the position IU was this year. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Yeah, with the NBA it's all about potential. Hardaway may not be able to create his own shot, but he's actually better off leaving early, and have teams think he'll be able to develop it, rather than stay another year, and provide them more doubt about his skills.

Just look at DayDay. BTPOY, 1st team All-American, good passer, decent shot, crafty, leader on and off the court = 2md rounder that had to fight his way into the league. Not to insinuate that it would have been any different had Draymond come out after his Jr year, but just look at all the stiffs that were drafted ahead of him - because they can jump higher and run faster, not because they can, you know, actually play the game.

Problem with that is he'll be a senior next year and will lose all his "potential". The NBA considers seniors to be "finished" products and what you see is what you get. There is no buzz for most seniors anymore. Asinine thinking, but that's one of the reasons the NBA sucks. They draft all these frosh/sophs based on their potential. Thus taking jobs away from guys who can actually play because of the guaranteed contracts, and then the kids and up sucking it up.

  • The um fans I know are convinced they will be better next year without Burke. Seriously. Their contention is that the rest of those guys will ALL get better, and they have guys who can step in and play PG. They are convinced GR3 is the real deal, McGary will be a beast, and Stauskus is a taller JJ Reddick. With TH becoming the leader, they just need a distributing PG who can play some D. They are saying Burke isn't a closer, and isn't a leader.

Can't make this shit up. There is no way they get better next year without him. No. Way.
