    They keep saying no-hitter but I was wondering that myself. I'm thinking maybe a dropped third strike and someone reached base.

    Always thought it was kinda dumb to take a perfect game away if something other than a walk, hit or HBP occurred. Other player's mistakes shouldn't hurt the pitcher right?

  • This is looking SO sweet now. Especially with Max struggling. JV, Fister and Sanchez are rock solid. Max's shoulder isn't sound, so....it should be interesting to see how they handle him down the stretch.

  • Just today, I took a peak to see how Brantly and Turner have been doing for the Marlins. Brantly = .326 BA, .907 OPS. Turner = 4.03 ERA, 0.97 WHIP.

    What? Turner is 1-3 in 5 starts with a 4.48 era. Brantly, ala Berry, is hitting .313 with 86 at bats.....too soon to get giddy about him being a star just yet. 27 games in .........

    Brantley will be better than Berry. but who cares. The Tigers window is now, not in the near future.

    Just giving a comparision of the 'new prospect' who makes it to the big league, sparks the team for awhile, that is, until the opposing pitchers get the 'goods' on him. Then things seem to go downhill .........

    have no problems with it. Brantley plays at a premium position for offense. if you can have a catcher batting above .270 you are way above the field. I've lived the kid for a couple of seasons. Wanted him as the backup to Avila and possibly replacing him. I think he will end up having a very good career. He still has his golden years ahead of him at 27.

    As long as Sanchez didnt turn into Jarrod Washburn, i was fine with the trade. And i've been very critical of the DD trades.

    Sanchez is heating up, while Omar seems to be cooling down, especially in the field. With the exception of a few players, this seems to be a common theme for the lovely Tigers.
    Oh well, if they can 'back' into the playoffs, anything can happen.

  • Infante is a trainwreck at 2nd base. He's hurt the Tigers as much as he's helped. I'll defer to Rookmsu or Clankyiron on this, but God I hope the Tigers can find something better at 2nd next year. 17 errors this year. He hits well a couple of times a week. Sometimes I wonder if something is going on with him.

  • Given the way Sanchez has finished the season, do you think the Tigers will try to sign him in the offseason? I like what I've seen from Smyly, and it would be nice to have a lefty in the lineup and not have to spend more money on starting pitching while there are other spots where it could be put to use (SS, OF). It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

    I think you're right, something is off with Infante. He just doesn't look like the same player defensively. I think the Tigers will ride it out with him next year and try to fix shortstop, one corner outfield spot, and the closer position in the offseason. They can't fix everything at once and budget is a concern with Verlander and Cabrera's escaation clauses. They'll hope that Infante bounces back.

    Yeah, Infante has been hot and cold in the D, but overall hitting .280/11/51/.722 OPS for the season. That's pretty decent for a second baseman, and he does provide some speed as well. 14/17 on SB.

    I'd like to bring him back if we can get him in the $2.5m range next year. I'd rather go after a shortstop to replace Peralta to be honest. Infante has been hot recently too, hopefully he can do some positives down the stretch/postseason.
