UM's Craig Roh calls UM'sTaylor Lewan a dirty football player...

  • First I posted what's below somewhere else--- but it deserves it's own thread. After the Detroit News wants to call out MSU for the way they play and cite unknown facebook users.
    -----------------------------------------
First of all Hoke lied or Matt did writing this article:

    http://detnews.com/article/20111017/SPORTS0202/110170359/1132/rss18

I directly read that post game comments by Hoke and he said:

"Everybody in the that room is beat up right now."

Now Hoke is saying "I don't know if we got beat up?" lol

    What about this from Angelique:

"There's not a healthy guy in that room," Hoke said. "Everybody's beat up."

    From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20111015/SPORTS0201/110150401/Wolverines-shrug-off-suggestions-of-dirty-play-by-Spartans#ixzz1b2ny6HQn
    -------------------------------------------------

Then Matt cites unknown Facebook users? I do not know of one that was THAT upset about it. They many not be happy with the face mask twist, but that was about it.

In fact last year Craig Roh called Taylor Lewan a "dirty player" and said he was glad he was on his team.

    http://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-football/nasty-taylor-lewan-is-ready-to-contribute-at-left-tackle-for-michigan/

“He is, just, dirty sometimes, which is what a Big Ten offensive lineman should be like,” Roh said. “Just a nasty guy, a guy that you’re like, ‘I don’t want to go against him again.’ And I never hear someone on the defense saying, ‘Oh, Taylor’s just a really nice guy to go against.’ Everyone is like, ‘He’s holding me, he’s knocking me over when the play is over.’

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gholston was over aggressive and got caught up when he twisted Denard's facemask, no doubt about it.

However, Lewan later held Gholston down to the ground by the facemask in retaliation and then Gholston slapped him. Both players should have gotten penalties.

Did Matt write about Gallon body-slamming Adams to the turf? Did he write about Hemingway pushing our DB to the ground on a missed offensive pass interference call? Did he write about No. 13 Carvin Johnson of Michigan getting a personal foul on a MSU kick return? Rough play? It is f-ing football.

Michigan should have been happy, those penalties kept them in the game. So were Spartans happy about that? No. Any good fan knows emotions are high and play is very physical.

Thank goodness Jordan Kovacs recognized that and is smarter than Matt Charboneau:

"No, I don't," Michigan safety Jordan Kovacs said when he was asked if the Spartans played dirty. "I've played in this game before so I know how it goes. … I think they were definitely more physical. They pounded us and ate us up."

Opti has a garden----guy has a natural "green thumb".

    TacoSaladRocks

  • his thumb is green?

sounds like you may be having consistently green stools? any other symptoms? might be worthing seeing your doctor to rule out a condition like UC/Crohn's, a malabsorption situation, or even an infection.

let us know how it goes.

Holding is the most misunderstood penalty in football.

Generally speaking as long as your hands are inside the breath of your shoulders you will not be called for holding unless you toss the guy down.

The picture as taken is not called holding in today's college football.

That's not true. That call will be made 99% of the time.

Explain how it is not. He is reaching out with a fist full of jersey that would be directly impacting the play. That is a text book hold.

    Not so.

Simply watch every outside receiver in college football grab and hold the cornerbacks jersey on every outside run or screen pass and NOT get called for holding unless their arm goes outside their own shoulder box.

It is not a hold because it is a scummer playing on their home field.

That is absolutely holding. An outstretched arm with a handful of the opponent's stretched jersey is blatant and will get called if seen. Grabbing a handful of the opponent's jersey/shoulderpads while keeping your arms and hands in between your shoulders and up close to your body will not get called as holding.

Grabbing the jersey is not the definition of holding in today's game. Keep in mind the holding rules were liberalized 15 years ago or so to promote the passing game. Which is why the pure run offensives of the 70s and 80s (Option, veer, wishbone) largely have gone away.

Are you trying to compare offensive and defensive holding? Obviously in the picture that you are stating is not holding the Michigan player is completely reaching out, outside of his shoulders, and grabbing a hold of the defensive player that is about to attempt to make a tackle.
