If any of you are coming to the U.P. this weekend, you might want to check on a few wildfires and how they may hinder your plans. There is one in the Seney Wildlife Refuge that has burned 3,200 acres. There is another one near Grand Marais, kind of, that has burned 17,000 acres in a little over 48 hours and has reportedly had flames as high as 200 feet. That is 26 square miles for those of you that are counting. As of this morning, it was still raging and was not contained at all. Fortunately these areas are very sparsely populated.
It also looks like a cock and balls on their map...
