Until Roushar is fired, it's hard to get emotionally invested.

I think MD could do just as good a job as Roushar.

I agree. Only thought is Dantonio calling the plays himself.

You do realize Dantonio has ZERO offensive coaching experience, right? He would have no idea how to call plays. If he did, Roushar would already be fired.

EDIT: Roushar never would have gotten the job.

I will not renew my tickets if he is still around next year. I don't think it will come to that though

I'm not giving this university one thin dime while roushar is still OC. It's the only language they understand. Unfortunately, they'll be too slow to catch on in time to avert the program falling back into mediocrity.

    Debatable.

  • You really hit the nail on the head for me. I had to take a step back after today's game, turn down tickets for next week (because I'd be harassed in AA to no end and likely go to jail) and realize that I need to stop being emotionally invested in this team for my own health and well being.

It may come to this. People not buying $80-a-piece tickets speaks volumes, and does get incompetent coaches fired.

He's clearly the problem. Everyone knows it, but Dantonio won't admit it.

It is obvious, but you're wrong- apparently not everyone knows it. There are still people blaming Maxwell. "Bench the QB!" They are probably the same ridiculous fans that blame a goalie everytime a hockey team loses.

If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension

I think it is a combo of Roushar and Maxwell. Roushar isn't very good, and Maxwell cannot overcome that. But Cook isn't going to be any better, so I agree that you start with Roushar.

I think you get a good OC, and the players start looking one hell of a lot better. Drops were on the WR's, but the confusion and inability of the OL to block, even BEFORE the injuries is on the staff. As is any kind of creativity on O.

The terrible thing is I feel like it still has to get worse before a change is made.

No, you just mean it has to play out which = more losses like today. How much worse can it get when you're around 100 out of 120 teams re: your O.

If Dantonio and Narduzzi are defensive minds, they know offense well enough to know how stop them. The next step is figuring out "what would an offense do to beat my defensive game plan?"

That level of analysis would be an improvement on what we're getting from Roushar.

Hollis could be in for a rude awakening with that price hike...a shitty home schedule, with a team returning from a shitty season (unless we see some drastic turn around).

My only hope is that we struggled early last year against garbage opponents...not like we have been a dominant team until now.

I agree that the players are also accountable. Maxwell sucked ass today. But the OC is not supposed to be a hindrance you have to overcome. He's supposed to put the players in positions where they can be successful, so they can build some confidence. roushar is an utter failure in this regard.

  • After today's debacle and looking at the remaining schedule, I don't feel optimistic at all. Not even sure we will win another game. Maybe beat Minnesota? I am emotionally disconnecting. I can't believe I drank the kool-aid as much as I did coming into this year.

    GreenMonster

  • Was at the game today. The whole soaking wet 60+ minutes.

The O-line in not a cohesive unit. What's bothersome is its not the same player or same side of the line so it smore than replacing player X with player Y. Maxwell does lack touch. The first pass in the series that was an incomplete was a poor desision to throw into coverage that was intended for Mumphrey. Then 2 plays later Mumphrey makes a great catch on another pass thrown into 2 double covereage.

I had a bad feeling when it was 1st and goal on the 7 and all the team got was another FG. A worse feeling than I got when they cheesed away the chance for a FG at the half. The firedrill at the end of the first half was all sideline administration.

I don't know if Roushar will be replaced but this team is not the well oiled machine it was last year. I underestimated how important Cousin's time with Cunningham and Martin as RS was and the O-line can't block folks.

Had this same conversation with my best friend while driving home (we both have season tickets since 97). Our take was why keep putting ourselves though this shit if MD is going to just let Roushar muddle along. Can we really expect different results next year with this staff?

    Angelo Pappas

  • Well I think this board is finally in agreement about Roushar... Don't think any coaching changes will happen until the end of the year though...

Maybe MD can call up Saban for some advice on a replacement.

  • This team kind of reminds me of the 2010-2011 basketball team- unspired, lacking leadership, some players selfish. They barely made the tourney and the best thing that happened was the season's end. Next year was a clean slate with guys who wanted to win. You can only hope that is the case next year for football.

    Exactly.

No leadership from the seniors and upperclassmen and supposed captains.

Norman, Maxwell, and Fowler have played mediocre at best.

I had the same thought as far as a comparison.

holy FUCK....6 td's in FIVE home games? That's the stat: that's muddy waters type ineptitude boys.......my god.

....tell you another thing: if Hollis tried to intervene about roushar: Coach D' could walK I really believe that: then it's a nuclear meltdown. I see 5 wins this year: and then Roushar needs to go for the fan base and season ticket holders(including some in this thread) to feel like there is hope. But I HAVE to say: I don't see it happening.

Um, no. It's not a lack of leadership and selfishness amongst the team. It doesn't look like they're just going through the motions out there; they're trying. It's more a lack of experience and poor offensive scheming (blame Roushar) than anything else.
