If he comes here what effect,if any, does that have on Madaris?

No chance we get Madaris and Arnett. Just not gonna happen.

CBD was saying WR was 1 spot left and first come first served among the 2012 kids. If Arnett Transfers wouldn't he take the 1 WR schollie left for the 2012 class, or would Worthy leaving open another spot?

If he transfers to msu he will have a spot. Football is a lot different than basketball in terms of scholarships

  • Two things I like about this:

    1) MSU has notoriously received praise for it's "family atmosphere" from recruits in the Dantonio era. That is one compliment that almost everyone walks away saying, so that's perfect for someone who wants to be near home and wants a solid support structure in place if and when he deals with a difficult home life.

    2) Even if he doesn't come here, tossing his name into the pool with people like Madaris and Lawler will hopefully push at least one in the group to commit. Even if we don't get DA, hopefully another very talented kid who WANTS to be here decides to make it official.

I feel like the timing of this couldn't be any better considering what we are losing at the position and the fact that he was looking at MSU to begin with.

Just looked at his stats from this year:

24 catches for 242 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Not bad for a true freshman on a shitty team. Only two guys had more receptions than him.

While I take exception with the "shitty team" comment, I would like to say that Arnett will be greatly missed at TN and he will make a great addition to whichever team he chooses.

We're sorry about his dad and sorry he couldn't find a home in Knoxville, but we understand and wish him the best.

My bad on the comment. I didn't really watch them this year, just seemed like they were losing their conference games any time I would see their scores.

Didn't mean to rip the program in general.

Yeah, there are 85 of them. That said, the question is will DA take the schollie/spot of Madaris, Lawler, or the third recruit MSU has slotted for a 2012 schollie at WR. MSU needs a safety, and some DL, and already has some WR's in the 2012 class.

So far the 2012 class has 3 WR's, don't see them taking more than one at this point.

  • Hopefully someone will remind DA that we're set to have an exceptional team that plans to compete for the B1G championship. Our qb is going to impress with his accuracy and arm strength, and who will benefit from an offensive line that will be much improved and deep. The RB's will provide effective leadership and play making skills to force other teams to play tight to the line. Meanwhile, our Defense will give our offense plenty of opportunities with good field position after they maul the opposing O. In fact, the only position of need is a WR that can be counted on for 10 to 12 touches per game for an excellent chance to go to the Rose Bowl.

Mr Arnett - you're silver plater is now ready. Let us know if you'd like some garnish with your steak dinner.

DA knows Maxwell, they worked out together when MSU was recruiting DA.

  • I hope dantonio does the same Twitter game that Arnett did in deciding whether or not to recruit him again.

Last year at this time, the Spartans finished as runners up in the chase for Michigan's top prep receiver. Could they be getting another shot?

  • Is it true that there is a rule about illiness in the family negating the transfer sit out a year rule?

    Yes.

  • This would be absolutely massive. If he could play next year and transferred here in January for spring ball, he could be a huge piece to the puzzle next year. Arnett and Fowler could be a very good one two combo next year. Burbridge and Caesar have enormous talent but are unproven. Then you still have Williamson, Sims Jr., and Mumphery; and I'm sure one of those guys will rise up to be a decent option. Then you still have Madris or somebody else that could commit.

Add this with a great running game and possibly the best offensive line in the Dantonio era and you have to feel good about Maxwell starting with confidence. Not to mention a fantastic defense and a good special teams unit.

Great, now I am too excited to sleep.

If one of his family members is ill, is this guy gonna be able concentrate on football next year? Maybe a year away from football and time with family is what he needs most right now?

A lot of kids play while family members are battling illness. I'm sure it's tough, but many seem to handle it with composure. Best of luck to him and his family.

  • Lippett should not be forgotten in all of this. Why not redshift burbidge and kings if DA comes?

    LP

  • I have followed him on Twitter all season. He has been through some crap. I know the feeling of being away from home when family is sick. It is not easy as a 40something year old, and it cant be easy as a teenager.

He seems like a good kid with a heavy heart, and a lot on his mind. UT will miss him badly. He was a bright spot in a season that saw a lot of problems (mostly injury) around him. He would have been a star at UT in the next year or so, he can be the same for us.

Best of luck to the kid wherever he goes.
