Update: DeAnthony Arnett is a Spartan

  • Would love to see him come home. This could happen very fast if he wants to enroll for January. Coach D better be on it.

For some reason the scUMmers think it's a foregone conclusion he's coming there.

While I take exception with the "shitty team" comment, I would like to say that Arnett will be greatly missed at TN and he will make a great addition to whichever team he chooses.

We're sorry about his dad and sorry he couldn't find a home in Knoxville, but we understand and wish him the best.

Fine. You guys sucked; is that better?

UM, Green Bay and Chicago teams all have one thing in common: They all suck

  • We have 2 WR's about to get drafted and 3 leaving. He has 3 years left, this should be a no brainer

If this happens, it will be MSU. I welcome him with open arms.

LP, Burbridge won't be redshirting. In fact, expect him to see a lot of action.

I think so too. Although there is a possibility that Burbridge could redshirt if we get a similar athlete in DA. Redshirting is always beneficial.

I think Burbridge is too talented to keep off the field though.

I think it's Michigan or MSU. He wants to be near his family.

It's hard to reestablish ties with a program where bridges were severely burned. He may never contact MSU...even if Dantonio is open to recruiting him again. He has no real relationship with Hoke's program, so it will be easier for him to reach out to UM.

  • whatever he does he needs to do it before the next semester starts so he is not stuck at UT for the semester.

    Depth is a beautiful thing.

A receiving corps like that with arnett added? Holy mother of mercy. I know we lose a lot but wow the future there is bright.

Your choice: Go play with a couple scatter-armed QB's whose first option is the run or play for a team that runs pro-style, drop back offense that relies on and nurtures great WR play.

Not sure why he would do that when they really don't have a very good passing qb to help his game. Maxwell and MSU make much more sense here to step into a vertical passing attack. Only thing I could see is that scuM promising playing time and DA and his brother Ralph are chums with Ondre Pipkins and his dad.

Hopefully DA realizes MSU is going to have a stud OL and QB the next couple years. Go Green kid!

  • MSU or um

Which offense features the wide outs more?

Which quarterback would you like to have throwing to you?

Which program has wide open competition at wide out next year?

24 receptions as a true freshmen is very good. Some on this board have put UT's program down, but they have top tier talent. They have a 100K stadium and good fan support. If he played a lot at UT as a true freshman, that is impressive.

The style of offense we run, having Maxwell throwing to him for 2 years and a chance to be the # 1 receiver...will not understand why he would not pick us.

I believe our coaching staff is the type that would not burn bridges (remember we were #2 with Kitteridge when he chose Vandy).

    D. Arnett, come on home and I hope your family member (is it dad) can recover and see you in Spartan Stadium!

  • Dantonio has a track record of being turned down and not slamming the door. Stuff happens.

Keith Nichol told Dantonio he would give MSU an official visit, went to Norman, came back a Sooner, enrolled early and was taking classes in Norman on LOI day. Months later makes some calls, Dantonio and Nichol meet after his official release and Keith Nichol is a Spartan.

    Same could happen with Arnett.

  • Vargman is speculating.

No one could have burned bridges more openly than Nichol. Promising Izzo, who went to a Lowell playoff game after JLS firing, then Dantonio he would give MSU a visit before committing going to Norman with his father and HS coach and committing to Oklahoma weeks before his scgeduled visit to East Lansing.

If Arnett gets his release MSU would most likely contact him or respond to an inquiry from Arnett but right now TN has to give him his official release.

I think he's saying there is no chance that Dantonio would not be interested in having DA. There is no period (.) between "chance" and the Coach D smiley.

    You understand perfectly

This is a no-brainer with both Arnett and coachd
