    Meyer tells the fan it's concerning about the lack of B1G recruiting when there are 11 teams in the SEC up in the top 25 in recruiting.

    Urban Meyer argument is if the conference is strong it helps everyone but if they are not recruiting well it hurts the conference overall.

    That's wonderful, but not every school has the resources to do that. Maybe he should bitch out the university presidents and ADs rather than the coaches. They don't determine the recruiting budget.

  • Meyer wants the Big Ten to recruit better because he wants it to be better and he wants it to have a better reputation. He knows it's going to be tougher to get into the 4 team playoff with the current reputation of the conference than it would be if other teams bumped recruiting, and eventually on field performance. He doesn't think he'll ever get out done by any of the conference's teams, but I bet he is worried about being passed over come playoff time by other 1 loss teams who play in perceived better conferences.

    or it will be at a meeting where the coaches get together, not a phone call. I only gather that because it says right there he will address it in the upcoming coaches meeting.

    Yep he is. But he could also schedule tougher opponents in the non-conference schedule to help him on that front instead of bitching that the rest of the conference sucks.

    He's just lining up the excuses for his early exit from coaching in this conference.

  • We can't have it both ways. Do you want the B1G to maintain certain academic and "ethical" standards or have a great academic reputation and be a run of the mill football conference? I don't necessarily like how Meyer recruits but the results are obvious. OSU runs an SEC style program in this regard and they were undefeated last year and will be the class of the conference once again whether you like his style or not.

    OSU always played by different rules. Meyer's arrival only increased the sleaze. He's also much more arrogant and provocative about it. Tressel would cheat too, but he wouldn't rile up others with dickhead comments like this.
