I was impressed with it. I thought the action sequences were good, solid plotlines, good looking women. It was better than expected.

Don't be surprised. This is the latest from Michael Hirst, who is pretty much THE guy when it comes to Middle Ages historical stories. Wrote and/or Produced most of The Tudors series, wrote the Cate Blanchett Elizabeth I movies, produces The Borgias. All of which have been successful by measure of both viewers and critics.
Wasn't able to watch it tonight, but have it DVR'd. Been looking forward to it since it was announced.

Luckily they have now come out with History Channel 2 to show the spillover from normal history channel... That way history channel can continue to show reality shows and fiction.

I was just describing it that way to a co-worker. I'll tune in for a while to see how it goes, I'm hoping there's some actual history in there as well, course that might be expecting too much from the History Channel these days.

Very interesting. Maybe it has a chance with that pedigree.

Yeah they did always have a ton of that. I was a big fan of Barbarian week when they profiled the different groups who filled the power vacuum before and after the Roman Empire.
The machinery of the ancients (something like that) was good too.
I liked Human Weapon also. Pretty cool seeing the different martial arts in action.

Eh, the first episode wasn't bad, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to watch. Part of the problem is that I'm a huge Norse literary nerd (Ragnarssona thatttr is a hell of a read), and it's almost insulting to suggest that Vikings had no way of sailing west before Ragnar. Even Scandinavians could cross the sea to Denmark and then sail along the coastline, especially since most of the sagas state that Ragnar was Danish anyway.

I like it so far, not something I'm going out of my way to watch, but definitely worth watching on On Demand in my spare time
