Wait, now 21 is um's "legendary" WR number?

  • Barry has no business with those others.

Nah. He'll likely go the way of Bo Schembechler.

Top 5 most undeserving Heisman winners: 1) Desmond Howard - Less than 1000 yards and got absolutely stoned when he actually went up against good teams. 2) Charles Woodson - He had what, 40 tackles all year? Plus he got burnt by David Boston in their biggest game. CHOKE. 3) Paul Hornung - 2-8 says it all. 4) Eric Crouch - "Congratulations, you just led your team to a 26-point loss in the last game of the year! Have a Heisman and a trip to the National Championship game!" 5) Jason White - See Eric Crouch 5a) Barry Sanders - Lions fans will hate this, but this deserves mention. All stats, no substance with this win. And as a wise man once said, stats are for losers.

amazing you put the two UM winners at the top.

Danny Wuerffel? Jason White? Eric Crouch? Chris Weinke? Troy Smith? All less deserving than those two.

Woodson was a total shutdown corner, played offense and special teams. He also had 8 interceptions that year. Besides, how many tackles should a corner have? The fewer the better then front 7 are. I agree that Manning should have gotten it but Woodson played well enough to give voters a reason to vote against Peyton. In that "biggest game of the year" while Boston burned him once he also picked off a pass in the end zone, a punt return TD and 37 yard catch. Hardly a "CHOKE."

Howard, well, he had a hell of a season and benefited from pretty weak competition that year but did earn the Heisman with 19 receiving TD's 2 rushing TD's and 2 kickoff/punt TD's (and UM was still a run first offense that year). 31 yards a return as a kick returner and 17.4 as a punt returner are ridiculous numbers.

I'm sure there was a wonderful illustration of how Woodson was in violation of NCAA rules during his last season at UM. Luckily for him he came before Reggie Bush.

actually, since the extra benefit was received after the season (taking a suit to attend the Heisman ceremony) he was suspended from that point until he paid back the value of the suit. So, unless it wasn't paid off before the Rose Bowl he wasn't ineligible for any games.

That's were Bush got hammered - proof he was taking those benefits during the season.

Funny thing too is that schools can buy suits, travel clothing and even interview clothing for athletes now.

You can put as many qualifiers as You want, he had improper contact with an agent and accepted benefits.

Second, your previous post was responding to a walverine masquerading as a spartan. He only posted that to try and get someone to rush to the defense of a fraud like Howard and a guy looking for a handout in Woodson.

Admitting to taking over 13 thousand dollars in cash and gifts is slightly more than a suit.

There is NO defense for either of those clowns taking the trophy that's supposed to go to the best player that year. Both were total shams.

Brother, I bleed green, but there are plenty of people that deserve to be on that list ahead of Woodson and Howard. Spin away.

No way. What did he average, like 240 yards per game? Ridiculous. Plus he had 39? TDs in 11 games. Hoe many did it take Ball to do that. PLUS, his bowl game stats didn't count which wouldhave made that season even more ridiculous, though that was after the award was presented.

I love how the first three guys don't deserve the Heisman because of their stats, and Barry doesn't deserve the Heisman because he's "all stats, no substance." right
