The Beretta subcompact doesn't come in a .45. Probably wouldn't be of much use given the limited magazine capacity and recoil in that size of pistol chambered in a .45.

I love it. 11 round capacity in a small subcompact frame is a rarity in the .40 caliber. Accurate as all hell and doesn't feel like a small gun in your hand so the recoil is surprisingly light for a .40 gun of that size and weight. The 9mm version is great too from what I hear and the capacity is upped to 14 rounds I believe in that gun.

The one knock I have on it is that there is some play in the trigger when you fire it single action. In other words, you pull the trigger in single action and there's a nice resistance until right before the hammer drops. Like a dead zone there where there's no resistance at all, just trigger movement. Can cause flinching and bad misses, but I'm used to it now.

Went to Cabelas here in town and tried both in my hand. Both felt great but the P99 felt more comfortable and better suited for my hand. The Glock 17 is a nice gun though. Might just have to drop 1k and get both.

Don't be a pussy, anything less than 45cal is a toy.

Like many, my preference lies with the Springfield XD/XDm series.

That said, the Glock is a great gun.

I have shot a few Walthers, but not the P99. However, the P99 has the same lever type mag release as the P22 and I just never found that to be a comfortable mag release for me. Not impossible (just slower for me), and on a 22lr, not a big deal; but on my carry and regular shooting guns I am used to the button style mag release.

Cabelas jacks up the price on their handguns. If you do some looking around you could get some better deals for the same gun

This. Bought my G19 there as well as my LCR. The ruger is my EDC.
