"We didn't play Michigan football"

  • That would be the arrogant way to say "We were completely outmatched, and to exacerbate that problem we executed and schemed poorly"

Did Bo not play "Michigan Football" in 80% of his Rose Bowls?

Or if it does, tell us what that is? Is "Michigan football" the chuck it up and when your teammate comes down with it, that's it, or if he doesn't that's it? Under Bo, it used to be solid defense and pound it up your ass offense. That football is being played, but its being played in East Lansing.

I don't know what their identity is. Is it a spread? Is it running the ball? Is it a solid smash mouth defense? what is it. Give us the peramaters and then we'll be able to figure this out.

"Michigan Football" is an excuse from the marketing mind of AD David Brandon. There is no explanation of umaa's defense other than 'Bama's personnel is just so much better than what Hoke could put on the field.

Hoke's problem on offense is not being able to run the offense he would like because of a: His AD wouldn't let him bench or move the Big Ten Offensive POY to a position of WR/RB and b: Shane Morris committed so early no other QB of consequence was going to give umaa a serious look. Hoke is in the midst of buildng a Lloyd Carr style offense with a Carr style WR as QB.

They are doing shoelace such a disservice leaving him at QB. Get him in the slot where he will be at the next level and get your next QB reps NOW.

Um football has tradition in big ways. That is what they are trying to get back to.

    Just saying.

Which is pure BS, because that tradition was based on a completely uneven playing field, 104-man travel rosters, recruiting players who didn't fit your system, knowing you'd never play them, so that other schools wouldn't get them, having the league office in your back pocket, etc. When the fields have not been "crowned" in um's favor, they've been average,

  • It is damn funny watching these fools either meltdown or explain away what happened Saturday. Sunshine blowers telling the DE'ers that they aren't true "Michigan men" if they aren't supporting Hoke, Denard, and the rest of the team.

    Here is one quoted gem

"Still and all, Denard is a better-than-average throwing QB, otherwise he wouldn't be starting at that position at Michigan. Our coaches aren't dumb (well, these ones aren't). They know how to position and play their guys."

There you have it. Everything is going to be OK.roflmaoroflmaoroflmao

  • This actually represents progress. Normally U of M wouldn't take responsibility for the loss in any way, at least they admit that they lost for some reason other than the other team playing dirty, the field conditions, the weather, etc.

It's still a long way from being remotely classy but it is pretty rare for U of M to even kind of admit they legitimately lost a game (although clearly they would have won if they had played better according to their players because Alabama's level of play has nothing to do with it).

Not to mention it was two years ago, and things are a little bit different for us now. We might not have been able to put a ton of points on the board against 'Bama this year, but I don't think we would have allowed 40-plus either.

  • The fallback into the language of arrogance is amazing. I would've thought that the lasting impact of the RichRod years would've been a touch of humility as that would've helped Michigan adapt to a changing dynamic in college football. But they're right back to the language of the Schembechler/Carr years where no loss has anything to do with the quality of the opponent.

As a Michigan State alumnus, it's interesting to watch given they're in our backyard, but it also makes me proud of the likes of Dantonio and his ability to change a culture, and of Izzo, who has never let arrogance set in despite success. My pride in Michigan State only increases when I realize how glad I am, on a number of fronts, that we are not like them.......

  • Michigan had no game plan...other than just chucking it up in the air and hoping their guy catches it. Their offense has regressed since RichRod left. They will continue to beat up on MAC teams, and will struggle against elite competition.

  • Another of my favorites was the idea before the game that at least they were catching Alabama early, so they might not be as experienced.

Now that they got destroyed, they give no credit to MSU for playing them at the end of the year in the Cap One bowl and how that affected the outcome.

They are just strange, arrogant, ignorant people.

i dont know how their fans do it. continuing to live in the past, its got to be a miserable life as a fan to not enjoy the present.

Agree, but that is what guys in my generation clung to. MSU fans of the 80's CLUNG to the multiple championships of the 50/60's as proof that we belonged and were relvant. We loved the program, but the real success was elusively in the past. Perles brought us a bit back to the modern worked, but Dantonio has sledgehammered that delusion in just a few short years. Here's to hoping he keeps scUM in their current misery.

  • We have finally cracked the code of being a Michigan man. Another facebook gem.

"Oh, I'm not saying ***** is wrong at all. Denard can play WR easily (not so much as a RB: too tall and thin). So can Devin Gardner. Hopefully they will do some switching around to run plays with one of them at QB and the other at receiver. Those plays are always exciting.

The prevailing wisdom (which I believe is correct) is that if Denard makes it to the NFL, it will be as a receiver rather than a QB.

I'm glad ****** supports Denard. I see a LOT of comments on Denard's page slamming him because of his underperformance in game ONE, because he was a Rich Rodriguez recruit, or both.

Bottom line: DR is a Michigan Man, now and always, and we don't verbally abuse Michigan Men when they have a bad game (or 40 bad games). They commit to THE TEAM, THE TEAM. THE TEAM. And they show character, both on and off the field (though of course they're not perfect).

Sounds like ***** is a man of taste and class. Good to hear. :)"

LOL. Nope, that's pretty much what we've come to expect from Michigan Football and specifically from Denard. He's a joke and he QBs a total joke of a team right now.

I want all the down votes you can give me.

Stas C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT
    Cousins 10/18 120 6.7 0 1 Score 7 Opponent 49
    Robinson 11/26 200 7.7 1 0 Score 14 Opponent 41

Looks to me that D. Robinson playd a better game than that of Cousins!!! Rollll Tide!!!

Good stats...but up north we count arm punts to the opposite team as INTs.

  • Oh...I gotcha. That's the difference...down south we count the stats that actually makes a difference. Honestly, they both played about the same. Now, I can understand disliking your rival team but let's be transparent...you guys QB played about the same in the bowl game. True or False?

Michigan's next great hope, Shane "Jesus" Morris, played some michigan football over the weekend too.

I heard that, too. Can't wait until they break in a new incompetent quarterback whom they think can throw the ball. The masses have finally come to the realization Robinson sucks as a passer. However, it will take one game to launch him into the Heisman debate.

Our Coach already reminded the media and everyone of our bowl performance against Bama. Don't need an outsider pointing out the obvious to us.

WTF are you talking about? Who's "both," and which "bowl game?" If you're trying to trash talk, bring it stronger than that. We're not the pussies of MgoBlow--we'll debate you but make some sense.

Pretty sure Cousins didn't play the whole game. More like half a game. So I think you'd roughly need to double his stats for a fair comparison, which it still isn't because they're completely different 'Bama teams. But keep on measuring "mighty SCum" against an MSU team from 2 years ago. It doesn't look pathetic at all.
