Which is pure BS, because that tradition was based on a completely uneven playing field, 104-man travel rosters, recruiting players who didn't fit your system, knowing you'd never play them, so that other schools wouldn't get them, having the league office in your back pocket, etc. When the fields have not been "crowned" in um's favor, they've been average,

This actually represents progress. Normally U of M wouldn't take responsibility for the loss in any way, at least they admit that they lost for some reason other than the other team playing dirty, the field conditions, the weather, etc.

It's still a long way from being remotely classy but it is pretty rare for U of M to even kind of admit they legitimately lost a game (although clearly they would have won if they had played better according to their players because Alabama's level of play has nothing to do with it).

Not to mention it was two years ago, and things are a little bit different for us now. We might not have been able to put a ton of points on the board against 'Bama this year, but I don't think we would have allowed 40-plus either.

The fallback into the language of arrogance is amazing. I would've thought that the lasting impact of the RichRod years would've been a touch of humility as that would've helped Michigan adapt to a changing dynamic in college football. But they're right back to the language of the Schembechler/Carr years where no loss has anything to do with the quality of the opponent.

As a Michigan State alumnus, it's interesting to watch given they're in our backyard, but it also makes me proud of the likes of Dantonio and his ability to change a culture, and of Izzo, who has never let arrogance set in despite success. My pride in Michigan State only increases when I realize how glad I am, on a number of fronts, that we are not like them.......

Another of my favorites was the idea before the game that at least they were catching Alabama early, so they might not be as experienced.

Now that they got destroyed, they give no credit to MSU for playing them at the end of the year in the Cap One bowl and how that affected the outcome.

Agree, but that is what guys in my generation clung to. MSU fans of the 80's CLUNG to the multiple championships of the 50/60's as proof that we belonged and were relvant. We loved the program, but the real success was elusively in the past. Perles brought us a bit back to the modern worked, but Dantonio has sledgehammered that delusion in just a few short years. Here's to hoping he keeps scUM in their current misery.

Oh...I gotcha. That's the difference...down south we count the stats that actually makes a difference. Honestly, they both played about the same. Now, I can understand disliking your rival team but let's be transparent...you guys QB played about the same in the bowl game. True or False?

Our Coach already reminded the media and everyone of our bowl performance against Bama. Don't need an outsider pointing out the obvious to us.

Pretty sure Cousins didn't play the whole game. More like half a game. So I think you'd roughly need to double his stats for a fair comparison, which it still isn't because they're completely different 'Bama teams. But keep on measuring "mighty SCum" against an MSU team from 2 years ago. It doesn't look pathetic at all.
