There is no need to mention a couple of B1G schools that have gotten off to a hot start on the recruiting trail, so sorry for doing so. Coach Dantonio is well ahead of last year's pace with his fourth commit for 2013 this morning in RJ Shelton. He joins Holmes, Reschke, and Powell. The rumor mill is saying to stay tuned as another may join them.
Last year, the Spartans didn't receive a verbal commitment until the spring game on April 30th. Three players (Bullough, Higgins, and McGowan) verballed that day and a fourth commit (Jones) was added on May 7th.
Anyone that has an offer this early in the game is very much a Plan A recruit. Adjustments already seem to be in place to keep up with the new recruiting styles in our neighborhood. Trust in coach D, because this very well may be his best class yet.

I posted this list in another thread, but I think it is relevant here- no question in my mind recruiting is moving up and MSU is doing the same:
if you look at the commitment lists of schools and look at the early top 247/250 lists, it certainly seems like things are moving faster this year. Obviously it is hard to compare because I do not have an archived list of the top prospects from this time last year, but just looking at the top 247 I see the following:
20 of the top 50 committed
33 of the top 100 committed
44 of the top 150 committed
56 of the top 200 committed
65 of the top 247 committed
To me that strikes me as a very very high percentage of kids already committed in February. You are looking at 40% of the top 50 players, a third of the top 100, and about a quarter of the top 247. I cannot imagine it was that high last year.
I think you can see a difference even with MSU- As you guys said yesterday, MSU rarely has any commits this early. MSU has 3 , and could very well add a few more shortly. That would be 1/3rd of your class and only leave MSU with 8-9 open spots, if the current scholarship numbers are true.

You do have radar on this sight.
Losing it? No. It was a check to see how quickly you would react and it didn't take 15 minutes.
Seems you know all about losing over the last 4 years and were posting excuses for rr all the time. Until it became so obvious even you couldn't support him. Very few posters here are constantly check blue boards. You are always over here.

And three four-stars.
Our recruiting, besides being really prudent under Dantonio, is also starting to be upgraded. It was never bad, but it's getting better. This staff just gets that it's all about filling needs and building depth. We're very lucky, and we're going to be good for the foreseeable future.
