I laughed my ass off when, in the "year of the big east"... and they sent 15 +/- teams to the tourny, state beat their tourny winner and reg season winner... plus another going to the final four.

But even with my laughing... no national talking head ever addressed the media being full of shit and clueless.

Yes, that was a great run.

I think the Big East "quality" gets artifically inflated due the size of the conference. They have so many teams that have to play so many teams that they inherently lose the opportunities for the best teams to pound each other to fill those games with the big east bottom feeders. This leaves it so the top teams have artificially low-loss records. Put their top teams in the B1G and I don't think they'd see so many wins.

  • I think you guys are reading it wrong. Its clearly a sexual thing. Memphis cums faster(embarrassingly fast), and they are banging dudes so they obviously need to be more physical. Its actually a compliment to MSU.

"Most likely upset: Since Murray State over Marquette isn't a true upset, we'll stick with Memphis and say Tigers over the Spartans in the Round of 32. Memphis is the No. 8 KenPom.com team and has a top-20 offense and top-12 defense. They match up well to the Spartans because Tom Izzo's team isn't as fast or physical."

  • in all fairness, the guy gave MSU a lot of love. Draymond and Izzo were singled out as among his favorites in the region. Take the chips off your shoulder - he's just a blogger and he gave more love than he gave reason to criticize. Just sayin'...

and the fact that Izzo has NEVER lost in the 2nd round of the tourney.

I get that he thinks that he we will lose to Memphis. BUT the reasons he gave for an upset (physical & defense) make it seem like he has never seen a MSU game & is completely unfamilar with who Tom Izzo is.

Which very well may be true.

  • I've seen both teams play a bunch this year and there is no way that Memphis is more physical than the Spartans. Memphis only has one true big man in Tarik Black and he is prone to foul trouble. The Dawson injury may be big though, as I'm not sure who matches up with Memphis' wings like Will Barton?

Who in god's name has Memphis beaten this year? Xavier at home by 4 points is their most impressive win.

And they got pounded by Michigan.

  • Memphis has great scoring stat.s/ranking (not sure about their SAT #'s ), I would be more impressed had they beaten at least one top 25 team. It's hard not to attribute their scoring excellence to their level of competition. All games at this point are far from pushovers.

That's the difficulty in analyzing teams like Memphis. I can't read too much into that Michigan game because it was so early in the season and Memphis, like MSU, is a different team now. I also can't read much into their conference results because they didn't freaking play anybody. Not like the teams we've played.

I believe they're probably a pretty good team, and perhaps under-seeded, but I get tired of all this talk about how long, fast and athletic they are. That's terrific. Who have they beaten? That's the question.

I do not know about that. Izzo himself said today there is a lot of speed and athleticism in this bracket. He says he wishes he had Dawson and Roe. He said Appling can run with anybody in the country but he needs people to run with him. He said Wood has improved some in that area. Izzo was not happy with our rebounding this weekend. All our rebound numbers, Dawson was a part of.

Take your bullshit negative attitude elsewhere. Remember when you were crying about how bad this team looked while they were pummeling EMU by 32 earlier this year? How do you like the #1 seed now?

MSU isn't losing to Memphis. End of story. We're kicking ass all the way thru this region.

lol, don't you know its a conspiracy man. They're telling everyone to bet against MSU but they're real brackets are all for MSU so they get the big money in the end! rumor
