Let's cut to the chase here, those shoes are 2 or 3 years old. Wing tips and Suede oxfords are the correct shoes to wear in 2012 and beyond

The correct answer was the first response to this thread. Anyone who thinks brown shoes don't go with gray is still wearing pleated pants.

Funny .. I have that exact same pair of shoes.
1. Nobody's looking at your socks dude..
2. If they are (looking at your socks), brown (the darker the better), charcoal grey, any argyles / stripes / whatever with those colors dominant, or even black socks will do. Dark greens & brown or orange & brown tend to be natural allies, but not when it comes to socks, unless the green/orange component is extremely small.
3. Rules about "men are supposed to match blah de blah.." are like speed limits. You don't have to follow them
4. As a dude, it's unlikely people are looking at you, or any part of you, let alone your socks. Unless they're like florescent green with disco balls dangling from them...

The pants/socks rule applies to dress pants. When you wear denim, the rules go out the window.
When I wear brown/tan shoes with my jeans (which is most of the time), I'll go no socks, or patterned tan, like argyle.
The rule that always applies is shoes and belt have to match (watch band too, unless silver or gold).
