I believe you are allowed to have fish in a tank 30 gallons or less. Fish can be sort of a pain though because when they close the dorms for winter break and summer break you have to pack them all up and transport them home unless you want them to freeze and starve over break. We also had hamsters, but they were technically not allowed but who is going to find out unless someone in your hall rats on you.

In Akers we had a hamster named Skippy. We would put him in one of those balls and he'd roll around the floor and into other people's rooms. When he died we buried him out back of the dorm.

Bitch (and I wholeheartedly mean that) down the hall from me in McDonel in 2008 had a cat for like a month and a half before she was busted. We all knew, but our RA was never not stoned enough to figure it out.

I don't really see what would be so bad about a cat. I mean, personally I think it would awful to have a cat in such a small space. I really don't see how it would affect anyone else on the floor.
