Whatever happened to William Campbell?

  • Is he still in Ann Arbor? Did he pull a Homer Simpson and eat everything in some restaurant, and force the closure of some restaurant?

    Location: Mumbai, India

I believe we've heard that in prior years.

Measured by performance on the field, or measured by ability to flex muscles for the camera during a nationally televised announcement?

  • Meh, Michigan player or not, I don't really like pickin' on a specific kid who really hasn't done anything to us. At least wait til he graduates in case he has the game of his life against us or something.

    All Ages Shows

  • He lives with the fat chick that sucks the entire football teams dick. But him and her are just friends.

    Duke Silver

  • Per annarbor.com, he was arrested on felony vandalism charges today. Clearly Dantonio's fault.

  • I think this is what the thread is referring to. Michigan players like to break things, isn't this the 2nd player charged with felony vandalism in the last couple months? That team has had a lot of discipline problems and court cases in the last several months. I can't even remember all of them off the top of my head, but it's at least 6 or 7 criminal cases.

  • Seriously, since Hoke has taken over there have sure been a ton of legal issues with his players. It's usually just a "big misunderstanding" though, I'm sure this is the same.

  • Regardless of the charges I do feel bad for Campbell. He and Gardner are casualties of believing rr's pitch when neither really fit into rr's masterplan and then rr is gone 3 years later and these guys are in no man's land.

Campbell was suspected of being a recipient of a lot of hype based on playing in the Detroit PSL with little or no competition. He was a big kid who had a reputation of working only as hard as he had to and he dominated most of the people lined up against him.

Then he listens to rr and goes to a place when rr was telling others he wanted lean fast linemen rather then the prototypical Big Ten O-Line. So here's a big overweight kid who's never been pushed in his life showing up in aa to play for a coach who doesn't want 300# O-linemen. To make matters worse rr doesn't redshirt him. So Big Will never got coached and its showing.

Not saying that things would have been different for him but the 2 schools that recruited him of the 5 he took visits that haven't had coaching changes were "Bama and L$U. MSU and ND offered but he never took campus visits. Maybe he gets better coaching at the SEC schools who had more stable coaching.

I think Campbell's problems are strength related, he's dropped a ton of weight, and is down to 305 I guess, but if you look at him still, he looks like he could easily lose another 35 pounds of fat and still not be all that ripped. He just isn't that muscular of a guy, usually when a guy drops from 350 to 305 he's diesel as all hell. Campbell just never was a strong or explosive athlete. I wouldn't be surprised if he kept losing weight if he keeps dieting and training, he's just no all that heavily muscled.

I'm sure this incident wont effect his playing time, Michigan is counting on him becoming a player this fall if they want to have even a serviceable D line.

That article has been updated to include the nature of the offense:

"According to Ann Arbor police, Campbell was arrested after attempting to slide across the hood of a vehicle at 2 a.m. on April 7 in the 600 block of Church Street. An officer in the area could hear the sheet metal on the hood of the car buckle under Campbell’s weight — he’s listed at 322 pounds — and arrested the senior, police stated.

Campbell was intoxicated, according to police."

He tried to slide across the hood of a car lol

By the way, found this on the Michigan Athletics website: "Personal ... William Campbell was born July 6, 1991" Somebody wasn't 21 rumor
