What's the most ca$h you've ever had at one time?

  • Not a check either, but cold hard cash. What's the most you've ever had on you at any point in time? Earlier today, I had $4700 in cash on me. Felt like a lot of money. It was a good feeling.

Must have been a nerve-racking drive. I would be shitting bricks the whole time.

I worked at a bank once so handling large amounts of cash isn't that big of a deal...especially when it's a strangers money...

However, cash thats yours or someone you know's is different.

My father in law is a good investor...and in his retirement he has no credit and a lot of cash.

Enough cash to buy old houses at auction and flip them for profit.

Went with him to finish a sale on a house he won at auction once...wasn't in bad shape actually, but was in foreclosure and a bank was dumping it. He brought a suitcase....I knew what was in it....and told me to hold it while he talkied to a buddy he saw walking down the street before going into the auction house. Still when he opened it to pay the auctioneer it still was pretty odd to see $55,000 in cash....just out on a table.

Of couse I saw him pay for a $35,000 pick up truck in cash too, recently.

No clue how much he's worth..my wife doesn't know either as my in laws live relatively modestly considering the cash. Both are just retired teachers who have been considerably frugal most of their lives and were good at investing money...especially in real estate prior to the bust...they got out of it at the right time too...though they still hold a lot of empty land.

35k in college. I'll never have that amount of cash on me again. Ahh to be young and dumb again.

I definitely was driving careful that day. Also called the bank a week ahead of time so they would have enough cash on hand. They had to specially arrange for that.

Our (well my) grandparents generation (Greatest Generation/WW2) used to carry tons of cash because, for one, they didnt trust banks, and two they were already in their 60s by the time Credit Cards became something any jerk could get. My grandfather would regularly have 2k+ on his person and he was not particularly wealthy or anything.

Don't banks have to report cash transactions over $10,000 to the IRS?

  • I had about $5,000 once when I was the treasurer of my fraternity. My house actually got broken into when I had this much cash, and my roommates had some stuff stolen, but luckily my door was locked.

RIP vbulletin. Bring back Rich Rod!
