Where the hell are we supposed to meltdown about Drake?

So what is this everything he's talking about?

Don't discount the fact that the kid has been bombarded by a no accomplishment qb who can't even win a state title but he is bragging about winning a national championship at a school which has only one a half titled (shared)almost 15 years ago??!

A bunch of egomaniac recruits so far in the last two scuM classes that are thinking they are going to waltz into the NC game- really?!!

Good good. Let them drink the kool aid just like Appy State did.

    Bam! THIS!

No doubt the kid has great talent and I wish it could have worked out to keep him here, but he has made it clear that he feels that he is above MSU Athletics. If that's the case, that's fine - best wishes to him wherever he ends up. I would rather see that scholarship go to a player who wants to be a Spartan and will bust his ass to leave his mark on the program.

Absolutely! In 07 State lost out on 5 Star Ron Johnson who left for sunny So Cal. He got injuried and had an average college career and is now struggling to find a NFL roster spot. Next yr some no name 2 star from Westerville Ohio named BJ Cunningham WANTED to be a Spartan and now all future MSU wideouts are chasing his records!

We also came in 2nd for mark Ingram.

  • Michigan fans are 100% convinced he is heading there, a few think if he doesn't it will be tOSU. "No chance" he leaves the Midwest according to them and Steve Wiltfong....like neither of them have been wrong lol

Yup and we settled for some 2 star named Bell! Worked out pretty well for us! And Bell might end up being the better pro!

  • Man, what a slap in the face his comments are. Doubt he understands why what he's saying is so crappy. Just terrible publicity for our program to have a high profile recruit just trash our program in public.

  • Harris doesn't have the character or maturity to be a Spartan. Pull his offer and give me the next Blair White anyday.

  • I don't wish ill upon the kid. It's better to have a guy decommit now than in December. While I do think it was a little cheap to have his HS coach call MD instead of calling personally, I do think he did the right thing to decommit sooner rather than later. So hats off to him for that.

MD will find--if he hasn't already--other WR(s) who MSU will put in the NFL. One positive tradition this program has maintained consistently has been putting WRs in the NFL--even after some of MSU's bad seasons.

Mumphrey, Arnett, Burbridge, Madaris etc...MSU is stacked at WR. And don't forget about Kings, Jr.. Here is a kid who excites me because he was pumped to come to MSU. He may not have had the star appeal that Harris has but I want kids who are genuinely excited to play at MSU. Not always, but a lot of times, those less hyped recruits end up doing better than higher rated guys.

Not sure why, but I'm really excited to see what Warner (and Bollman) experiment produces. I think it is going to make recruits change their minds--I hope any way.

  • This reminds me of Mike Hart's comments. Made UM fans and the blue wall cream their pants, incensed MSU fans, etc. Yeah, Hart was never an MSU commit, but Harris never was in his heart.

But the point is that Dantonio has a way of using these kinds of insults to motivate the team. Too bad he cant say anything in the media now. By the time he can publicly comment, the sting won't be as fresh. I'd expect a comment like, "Well, we just topped off our third 11 win season in four years, while his guys missed a bowl game, so who missed out on who?"

Dantonio has proven on and on again that he has done it with less talent. Let's see how this plays out. After our offense last year..it might have impacted his decision. Of all the schools that he is looking at though..MSU, Alabama, Florida and ND fit him the best. They all run prostyle offenses. I don't know what kind of offense Michigan runs and Ohio State runs a gimick spread offense that doesn't utilize Wide outs.

  • Just watched a Harris interview after his basketball game on channel 10.. The teaser was why did he said no to Coach D and MSU. The thing is, he didn't tell coach D, his high school football coach did. I wish Harris well but if I was that high school coach, I would have forced Harris to make that call himself .

And we wonder why high school stars are entitled. Because the adults enable them.

Yep. I'd put hands first, but those are the two. Don't need the YAC. If you can make one good cut and catch the ball you're good.

This. WRs are an easy position to find. I have no doubt that we can easily replace this kid. Most Michigan hs football players aren't that good anyways. I believe in MD.

ND doesn't run a pro style offense. Florida ran a quasi-spread offense with Driskel and is still transitioning to a pro-style.

Good post. I definitely think our offense and last season, overall, had a big impact on his decision. Combine his decision to not pursue basketball and his stock blowing up last season, the writing was on the wall. Personally, I don't think he is going to be a star, but he sure does have stars in his eyes. As much as I think he likes UM, I think he's in love with the idea of going to a program like Alabama or Notre Dame. Tis is a kid from Grand Rapids Christian...big time coaches don't stroll the GR area like some other places and I think there is a bit of him that likes showing people he's going to top programs instead of 'just' MSU.

  • My thinking is that kids that go to Michigan or OSU feel like they've already arrived . Kids go to Michigan State with a point to prove, and under Coach D, that dynamic has shown itself on the field.

If you grow up a Michigan State fan and commit to play for our team, and then you decide that you're too good to wear the Green and White, it probably means you never had the right outlook to be a part of that family.

What I find pretty hilarious is people on twitter ripping Linthicum and other people that have PLAYED and BLED for for our jersey for questioning Harris' choice and calling him out for it. Apparently any decision a 17 year old can make is beyond reproach.

Thinking about it a little more..he grew up an MSU basketball fan. He proabably loves Izzo and respects the heck out of our basketball program. He told Izzo about not wanting to play Basketball and opening up his commitment. So, I think once Basketball was off the table, he stuck with Football.
