Where the hell are we supposed to meltdown about Drake?

This is by no means a program breaking loss, but lets not act like SCum here where we start saying the kid "wasn't really a Spartan" or the kid "isn't even that good". Those are classic things we've all slammed them for when they would lose someone who wasn't a "Michigan man", so lets not stoop to their level. It's a shitty situation, we'd be a better team with him, but we will move on and continue to whoop scUMs ass, and odds are they won't even end up with him anyways.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you, but the way this has all gone down shows he really wasn't a Spartan nor does he have the character to be a Spartan. This wasn't your regular decommit that decided he jumped the gun and wants to look at his options. There's nothing wrong with that. Harris supposedly loved MSU. He even referred to MSU as "home sweet home." Then he started spending all of his time at scUM while still committed to MSU- even singing their shitty fight song after the MSU/scUM game. Then he finally decommits formally and takes a huge shit on our program on the way out.

Harris has shown his true character, or lack thereof, in how he has handled this. I award him no points and may God have mercy on his soul because if he ever steps foot in Spartan Stadium, he won't see any mercy from our defense.

The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.

  • Bummer to lose a talented kid, but it's clear from his interview that MSU was out as soon as basketball was off the table.

This reminds me of Mike Hart's comments. Made UM fans and the blue wall cream their pants, incensed MSU fans, etc. Yeah, Hart was never an MSU commit, but Harris never was in his heart.

But the point is that Dantonio has a way of using these kinds of insults to motivate the team. Too bad he cant say anything in the media now. By the time he can publicly comment, the sting won't be as fresh. I'd expect a comment like, "Well, we just topped off our third 11 win season in four years, while his guys missed a bowl game, so who missed out on who?"

You don't really believe that scenario will play out do you?

Counting on scUM to go back to missing bowl games is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I hate to say it, but this board is in denial of where this kid will likely end up. WHen he 1st announced it was between us and 1 other school, Michigan. He visited there 3 times in the last 3 weeks and decommitted from us the day after his last visit there. The BS he's saying about our program sounds exactly like Michigan BS, as if 8-5 makes them a juggernaut.

He said he wants to win a national championship. Not watch the national championship.

I think he's out of state bound.

  • So Mr. Harris now believes he is too big time for our program. That's odd. He's not even man enough to call our coaches himself and decommit. Instead he had his coaches do it for him. Next.

  • I honestly think Urban Meyer talked him out of continuing to play basketball. Everyone always said that Basketball was his 1st love, now football is more fun? I think he's selling himself short as a basketball player, he's a legitimate top 50 recruit and if he improves he has a chance to be a McD's AA. The money and the future is better at playing b ball. He's got as good a chance to play in the NBA as he does the NFL. The NBA pays better, you hae a longer career, and you get to be healthier when you retire.

I think the big time recruiting left him start struck, he's not really thinking of his future, just wanted to be recruited and wowed.

It's not really stooping. It's saying that if the kid doesn't want to play football for MSU, it really works well for both parties: the kid gets to go find a system that is the best fit for him and we get to offer that scholarship to a kid who genuinely WANTS to play football at Michigan State. I really wish that Drake would have wanted to be a Spartan - he is an incredible player and any team would be lucky to have him. But if he doesn't want to be here, I'm not going to lament over it. Best wishes to him wherever he ends up.

Even if you don't make the NBA you can make good money playing in Europe. I'm about to graduate and playing in Europe would pay more than any of the jobs I'm qualified for.

Sorry, I'd love to sip the anti-Michigan kool aid with you, but they aren't going to go back to not making bowl games. Sure, they will get to the point where their definition of a disappointing season will be the same as ours (6-6 or 7-5 and still go to a lower-tier bowl), but that's about it.

Didn't he get an offer from Indiana in like 8th grade for hoops?

I suppose I should have added a "wink" smiley? That was said with a bit of tongue in cheek, guys.

But remember, UM was VERY close to being 6-6 this past season (fraction of an inch between Denard's knee and the ground in our game, and some very good fortune against Northwestern). Yes, yes, we were very close to being much worse (or much better), too, but the question was about UM.

Of course, I also said with just as much tongue in cheek, that we'll win 11 games, which I thought more people would have objected to. lol It's probably about as likely as UM missing a bowl game. Both are possible, neither is likely (favorable schedule or not, we will have Maxwell or a new QB--neither makes me very comfortable--and big unknowns at RB and TE).
