Why I was motivated to assist in feeding the Izzone

  • Couldn't have said it better myself, Forbin. I am one who unfortunately didn't take advantage of my time at MSU WHILE a student, like I should have. My parents were both on Faculty, though, so I did a ton of games as a little kid and before being a student. I was lucky that MSU fed me and housed me very early on, so it is an institution that is just a part of me now matter what happened with sports.

Well my parents have moved on and retired years ago and I was the last Spartan Standing, in fact the last in my family to even live in Michigan, and it left a hole inside me when I had to go out and work for a living out of state. For years I yearned to come back just to a game or two. I love the place and the campus and the stadiums and the Breslin Center. I love the Ice Cream store, the Biochemistry building, Anthony Hall, the Library, the Brody Complex, Butterfield, and the Wharton Center. I know every crack in every sidewalk and bikepath, as I've skateboarded and walked my dog and rode my bike on those paths since I was 6 years old, right on through to my Senior year..and POOF I had to move and go on with my life.

This place and other gatherings of Spartans makes us want to give back and be a part of it. The Magic (literally) and the prestige and the pride. For our school, our heritage, our teams, our Coaches, and our future.

    All Spartans..

    All Spartans..

When from these scenes we wander, and twilight Shadows fade,
Our mem-ry still will linger, where light and shadows played,
In evening, oft we'll gather, to pledge our faith anew,
SING OUR LOVE, for Alma Mater!
    And thy praises, M-S-U!

(second verse of The Shadows, specifically for Alumni)

  • Would you guys laugh if it comes game time and you're pumped to see the izzone and they're all lethargic and full. Haha none of them can move and a few end up puking trying to move. We get shelled because it'd be the worst crowd in sports history. I'd honestly laugh a bit.

    2 pm Feb 19th- Forbin, you're awesome!

9pm Feb 19th- Fuck you, Forbin! (Cradle robbing joke)

You know the difference between you boners and Forbin? It's not just the Jesus like mane of hair and the pedo tendencies. No, being a grown man, he can actually take a joke. I guarantee he wasn't one of the legions of down voters taking personal offense and getting all read faced behind their computer screen. "HOW DARE YOU MAKE A JOKE ABOUT THIS SOLEMN OCCASION!!!" roflmao

  • As the elite or not question still comes up, I think the Izzone could be what puts MSU over the top, and it's clear that the students now realize that. This is an exciting time for MSU basketball.

Actually, it's a defense mechanism to keep me from breaking down in tears at the beauty of the whole thing. Spartans young and old coming together for the good of the team and the program. Unselfish strangers helping the next generation of Spartans. I start to get a little misty when I think about it and to compensate I lash out in fits of sarcasm. Sorry.

He'll call us boners, but he really is jealous that someone has more attention on this board than him right now. Haha.

  • Forbin's generosity is awesome. This is the stuff that great fanbases are built from. GO GREEN!

Screw that. I really am hungry.

    LoneWolfSparty

  • You all realize that when this is all over, there will be all kinds of memories of #FeedtheIzzone and this crazy crowd of last Tuesday and Tonight, especially, that is going to be remembered any time a poll on "best student section" or "best Basketball environment" or "best home court advantage" gets done?

    Let alone "best fan base"

Little things can add up to have a big effect for a school and our programs sometimes. It helps with crowds, students, and recruits.

You never know. Awesomely Epic stuff..rockon

Good point Roe. Nothing like feeding a bunch of privileged college students as they wait to enjoy a once in a lifetime college basketball game of a #4 vs. #1 match-up!

Meantime, screw the kids that are poor, starving and have no hope of ever seeing big time college basketball game.
