Why must smokers tx the world like their ashtray?

  • FearsomePenguin said...

So they just made the world their ashtray?

Not exactly, try the world made their ashtrays go away.

Smoking sucks, but how many of you bashers are so overweight that you couldn't bend down to pick up a cigarette butt anyways? When we pile into Spartan Stadium, how many of you take up damn near two seats, causing someone who also paid for a ticket to be uncomfortable? How many of you gorge yourself and do not stop eating till concessions are closed, then leave your trash under the seat for someone else to clean up? There are trash cans available. How many of you piss in the stalls instead of the trough making it impossible for anyone to take a dump? How many of you drink too much and make an ass out of yourselves and prove to be an embarrassment to the MSU fan base?

You're all assholes, so ease up on the smokers a bit.

Smokers do all of those things you brought up, so this is an "all purpose" thread.

Nino, you are choosing to pay a tax for a product you choose to use. Don't want to pay the tax? Stop using the product. If you choose to keep using it then following the mandatory laws that are out there for EVERYONE regarding trash disposal.

It would be even better if the cigarette taxes were increased 10X. They need to pay for their stupidity with $$$$$$$ and with their health.

Smoker's problem, then. If someone moved the port-o-potties to the other side of the park and reduced their numbers from 10 to 2, does that mean it is okay to crap any and everywhere you please?

I am a former smoker, and I would not throw my butts out my window (I would either use an ash tray or have a bottle with liquid in it to put it out). I also would not smoke near anyone unless it was a bar that allowed smoking. Even in public the worst I would do is twist out the tobacco and then stomp out any burning ashes (the tobacco is biodegradable, the filter not so much). I would then put the filter back in the pack.

Yes, it's a nasty habit. Yet people can still be considerate about it with little effort.

edit: even if I was at a bar that allowed smoking, I would make sure others around me were smoking. If no one was smoking already I would go outside. People thought it was strange, but hey, if there is not smoke already I didn't mind going outside. I also would not hang out at the entrance. It would look stupid but no big deal. I was the idiot who chose to pick up a habit that annoyed others, and going to a spot no one was at was never a big deal. It's not that tough to find a spot where others didn't have to breath in my smoke.

I still do smoke, but I am a lot like you in regards to smoking around non-smokers. Just last night I was a at bar that you can smoke in (I'm in Indiana, smoking ban starts in this state on July 1st), was with 3 non-smokers. When I'd have a smoke, I'd just leave our table and sit at another table that no one was at. They told me it'd be no problem to stay at our table, but I just don't like smoking around non-smokers.

  • Saw a guy smoking while sweeping up litter off a sidewalk this morning. As soon as he emptied his dust pan into the trash bag, he took one last drag and tossed the butt on the ground.

Exactly. I think obesity is a whole lot more offensive. A bunch of fat POS stuffing BK Roadhouse Burgers down their gullets leads to more issues than smoking does. I've been to too many tailgates to name, and I think that is a great example of smoking not being the biggest issue for American people. Obesity leads to a plethora of health problems. Smoking...eh, you got the lung cancer, emphysema, birth defects. But obesity can lead to a complete disfigurement of one's existence, from not being able to stand upright to lethargy to heart failure to diabetes.

    Not all smokers are ignorant.

  • I actually don't care if you smoke. I care if you're lazy and littering. Not to hijack, but I feel the same way when bikers complain about "same road, same rules," then cruise through stop signs and jackknife through traffic. Follow the rules and I wouldn't try to hit you with my door every time I see you.

  • How about you non smokers stop pushing your bullshit agendas on us smokers? How about you non smokers start businesses you can frequent that are smoke free, rather than make private owners go smoke free. Oh and by the way I agree about the butts, but I also get tired of hearing you non smokers spew your bullshit.

I have no bullshit agenda. Its people like you who bitch and moan about everything. If your at a bar drinking and killing your fucking liver and you want to bitch about smoke. Buy a building, start a bar and make it smoke free. Then all your smoke free buddies will come and support it. If you dont want to do that dont push private businesses to go smoke free to make you happy. Im skinny so I think all the fat fucks should pay a fat tax and have to eat salads all day.

  • I've smoked regularly for the last 5 years after quitting for over 20. Yeah, I've heard many times, "Why?"

I'm a conscience smoker. I keep a half-full water bottle for ashes and butts when in the car. Pisses me off whenever I see someone throw a butt out the window. When smoking outside I flick the burning ash and remnant tobacco and keep the filter to dispose in the trash later.

OT: Since Granholm got her wish, smoking is off limits in the workplace. Pretty ridiculous in the manufacturing industry where the air is often filled with paint/solvent/release agents and/or smoke from MIG welding.

That particular work setting is an extremely small segment of the overall work force, so as an example, it's relatively insignificant. There are thousands of other locations where the public itself has benefited from the smoking ban.
