Why not go with Sprint?

  • For those complaining about lack of unlimited data, what's holding ya back?

Crappy coverage compared to ATT and Verizon (varies by area obviously.) I generally am around WiFi enough as well that I never come close to my data limit.

    the pending bankruptcy

  • Really? I've been on T-Mobile and ATT before and Sprint's network works far better for me than either of those. Not going to switch to Verizon because their prices are ridiculous.

Having had both ATT and Sprint, I can tell you this is not at all true. Sprint is much much better than ATT, at least in most of Michigan. Verizon probably does have a better network, although I've never had a Verizon phone.

  • If you don't care about coverage areas and network speeds, nothing is wrong with Sprint.

    dagomike

  • I'm going to guess that living in Miami there is little difference in coverage between any of the networks. Verizon has been nice while traveling, but I don't travel enough for it to make a difference anymore in my choices, plus now a lot of times if I'm gone, I don't want to be disturbed anyway.

I think Sprint has the HTC One, or the Galaxy S3, or both.

  • Switched to sprint from verizion when I got my first android phone a couple of months ago. I wanted the unlimited data as I stream music and radio shows at work all day and Verizon was much too pricey. With the MSU discount I pay 69.99 (discount takes care of data plan basically)/month and I haven't had any problems with Sprint yet.

I would like to have 4G, Sprint doesn't have it in Lansing, but I've never had 4G so I dont feel like I'm missing anything yet...rumor is its on the way.

Never had a problem with the coverage between Greater Lansing area and metro detroit

Not sure why all the haters shrug

    ErnestScribbler

  • I've sold all three.

Now that Sprint has the IPhone, I'd say its tough to make a case that it isn't the best carrier. Price and unlimited data more than make up for an occasional dropped call. AT&T can be a major pain in the ass.

    1. Sprint
    2. Verizon (close)
    3. AT&T

If you have a 4G phone you should get 4G service in most of Lansing and E.L. Just turn on the 4G radio. Check out www.clear.com. The market is not official, but there are active towers.

  • I've never had an issue Sprints coverage and have been with them for about 8 years. Obviously in the corn fields of Illinois or near the U.P. the coverage is terrible but pretty good otherwise.

I will soon upgrade to a Trevor Iphone.

  • A friend has Sprint. Its a trip to the past with the good old days of Nxtel 15 years ago. Great coverage as long as you stay within 10 miles of major highways and high population areas.

  • Sprint's roaming is on Verizon's network anyway, from what I recall.

  • I've had Sprint for over 5 years now without a problem. I just got the iPhone and signed a 2 year renewal. Those of you that rip on Sprint's coverage, have you ever actually used Sprint?

    Beachnutts1

  • Sprint still has roaming?

    Io Triumphe

  • I have Sprint as my work phone and I travel to just about everywhere in the country. Their coverage is fantastic. I had until very recently AT&T as well for a personal phone. Sprint's coverage and data network blows AT&T away.

    Yes, but it is free.

I have had Sprint for close to 5 years, and I had Nextel for 7 years before that, the network has gotten much better the last few years. I hardly ever have a problem finding service, even out in the sticks. The unlimited data is worth the occasional dead spot.

The upcharge for 4G pisses me off though. I am almost never in an area that has 4G coverage, yet I have to pay extra because my phone is 4G capable, that is crap.

Its not really for 4G, they just tell customers that to not have them get pissed off ha

They use the "premium data" crutch, but they should've just pushed the price of the plan up $10. If the customers don't like it, then switch. Still a lot cheaper than Verizon/ATT

Having had both ATT and Sprint, I can tell you that it is most definitely true in my experience. I've had much better success with ATT in the state of Michigan than I did with Sprint.

Yeah, I have Sprint and I never have any problems with service here, nor do I know anyone that complains about issues with Verizon or AT&T service. If you think about switching, keep in mind that Miami probably won't have LTE service until the end of the year. We're on their second phase of rollout, which is supposed to begin sometimes in Q4. So you'd either have to get an older phone with their previous 4G offering (Wimax, which most people think sucks), or deal with 3G for a while. I'm up for renewal soon, but my current phone is still 3G anyway, so I won't be taking a step back. But someone coming from Verizon might be taking a step back in speeds for a few months.

And yes, Sprint has a version of the HTC One (they call it the HTC Evo LTE). I think it's supposed to hit stores today or very soon. I don't think they've officially announced the S3 for Sprint unless I missed it, but I'd guess that they will be getting it.

    MiamiSpartan

  • speaking of the evo lte, it's been delayed at customs because apple filed an injunction against it because they're in a patent slapfight with htc right now. it was supposed to be in the mail today (grrrrrrrrrr)
