Will Kobe win title #6?

  • Lots of talk about whether Lebron will ever get one, but now that L.A. is toast, will Kobe get championship number 6?

    Location: Mumbai, India

  • No

Teams like the Thunder and Clippers will dominate the West for the next 5-7 years

and don't forget about the Spurs

  • If he ends up on a good enough team. GM's decide who wins championships, not individual players.

  • Their window with that current team has closed. If they move Bynum for Howard and Gasoline for some useful parts they might open a new window. That said, they certainly have some big holes to fill at the moment.

  • Need to get rid of Gasol

  • If LA wants to get back in the title race, then they need to do something quick, as the window for Kobe is probably 2-4 years max. I know everybody has a plan on how to fix teams, so here is my fix for the Lakers:

Trade Bynum for Dwight Howard straight up. Each team can get rid of their headache center. Howard wants to be in LA, and Bynum has no clue if he even wants to play Basketball. That would solve the Center issue.

Trade Pau Gasol to the Brooklyn Nets for Kris Humphries and a 1st round draft pick. Regardless of the Kim Kardashian BS, Humphries had a solid season with 13.8 pts and 11 bds a game. Brooklyn will be looking to add big names for the first season in Brooklyn, and Gasol would give them a little star power. The pick will help with the future for LA

Take a run at Free Agent Steve Nash for PG. He is looking for a title, and a win now Lakers team could be the right combination. He has 1 good year left in him, so take the chance now with Nash.

Bring back Lamar Odom. Kobe wants him back. The team lacked a off the bench punch that Lamar provided. This would help address the lack of offense from the bench.

The team would look like this:

    PG Nash
    SG Bryant
    SF World Peace
    PF Humphries
    C Howard

Bench: Odom, Blake, Sessions, Barnes, Hill.

It's a quick fix, but would at least give the Lakers one last shot before Kobe calls it quits.

Why is Bynum seen as a problem? He's a young dominant center. Yes he can be immature but Gasol and the lack of point guard (which Dallas exploited last year) are much bigger issues.

Why would Orlando deal Howard straight up for Bynum?

Why would Brooklyn deal a first round draft pick, plus a decent PF for an old, sometimes lazy, soft center?

Kobe is still about as good a player as there is in the league, he just can't do it every night now because he is older. Players want to play in LA. They will want to play with Kobe. Personally, Bynum is overrated. If you can deal him for a young energy guy, I say go for it. Fixing the team isn't easy though. OKC is a really good team with a bench and no glaring holes. San Antonio will still be good for maybe 2 more years. The Clippers are at least as good as the Lakers with two of the better players in the league. If they can upgrade at a spot or two, they will be very good.

With that in mind, I wonder if the Lakers would consider trying to move Kobe and Bynum ( I don't even know if it is possible contractually) to start over. Again, guys want to play for the Lakers, getting a young star in there probably wouldn't be too difficult if there is space.

If the completely inept Chris Wallace becomes GM for both those teams then we can expect something this absurd. Otherwise trades aren't going to lopside that heavy to the Fakers.
