With Jones joining the class I was wondering

Last time we had a leading tackler that WASN'T a LB. Has this ever happened under MD? With JLS it seemed like our leading tackler was always a safety. Maybe it wasn't always but it felt that way.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.

Only two players have led the team in tackles under Dantonio:
Bullough: 2011
Greg Jones: 2007-2010

so ya we've never had anyone but a LB lead us in tackles under MD. That's what I thought thanks.

Other than last year, I think the answer was Greg Jones every year (accept maybe his Fr year).

man i think my brain has blacked out the entire 2006 season. That defense was so terrible it was painful to watch. I still get sick when I think of that ND game.

Ron Stanley was the last decent LB MSU had until Greg Jones came along.
Amazing to think how good the LB position looks for the future. Arguably the most talent recruited for one position under MD

Rather it be an LB than a safety or corner.
I think in Duzzi's D LBs will pretty consistently be the leading tacklers because they're alwasy up in the mix. It seems like the DL's job is to 1. pressure the QB then 2. funnel RB's etc. to the strongest parts of the defense which recently have been the LB corp.

as good as Jones was...he would NOT be MLB in our current defense. I would guess would take Norman's spot.
I am amazed at the talent we have at LB now.
