I would, assuming day trips to Chicago on the weekends weren't considered leaving. I don't mean overnight trips, I just mean leaving Saturday morning and coming home to sleep. The same for home MSU football games where I'd just wake up early and drive up for the game and drive home afterwards.

Right outside of Gary, in Hammond, they have arguably the best poker room in the midwest (Horseshoe Casino). It would pretty much be my entertainment/second income while living there and realistically, I can live just about anywhere at this point in life. I don't live near family now and I don't have kids where I'd need to worry about the schools and environment for them.

I've worked in Kuwait three separate times to make more money and considered Afghanistan, had it not been for my sick Grandpa. So, yes...I would do "time" in Gary for that kind of salary.

There are some parts of Gary that are still livable. If you can get used to the pollution it would be doable.

The worst thing would be having to put up with Comcast as your cable and internet provider.

If you couldn't just rent an apartment and say you lived there not a chance. If you could get a phony address apartment and get away with it like all the Detroit cops used to do, sure.
