I'm 22 and paid my way through undergrad from working/loans. When I have a kid, they're gonna pay as much as they possibly can without my help. You get alot more out of the academic part of college when you're using your own money.

But back to your question, I'd help out regardless of where they choose to go. My kids will grow up hating UM, but if they think that the best place for their education is Ann Arbor, then who am I to tell them otherwise.

Serious answer, no. I've seen the type of people that Michigan churns out and I wouldn't be able to support that. They are very snobbish and have that ingrained attitude that they are better people than the rest of us. If an M grad were to read this, they'd say "well we are". That's exactly what I'm referring to. There are exceptions (y2k), but overall its really disturbing. They'd also say "inferiority complex"...same old story. Whatever, all the M alumni can have a circle jerk about how awesome they are, the rest of us are in touch with reality

No. I would tell my kid that Community College is cheaper and you can still cheer for the same team.

My sister (a Spartan alum, no pics) had this happen to her. Her olderst faughter (no pics) will graduate from State this Spring, but her middle daughter (no pics) decided to go to UM. She justified it because my niece received a full scholarship to their engineering school, and would have only received a partial scholarship to MSU. Not sure exactly why that was, nust have had something to do with the types of scholarships she applied for.

Yes I would. It's not really any different then my mom (a UM grad) supporting and helping me pay for MSU.
