Yes, you ********** can blame the refs

Why are officials never held accountable for calling shit games. If they were Burr, Valentine, Hightower, etc. would not have jobs. This shit officiating in college basketball is getting really old.

Jim Burr is incompetent, and after the travesty that was last year's Rutgers/ St. John's game in the Big East Tournament, he and the rest of that crew should have been forced to hang up the stripped shirt for at least a year. Instead it was the rest of the week.

They out rebounded us by one.

True, and OSU got 9 offensive boards. That is just too many second chance points. MSU only got 5 offensive boards.

This. The D in the 2nd half was unSpartan like and that cost them the game period. Was the officiating good? No it wasn't.

To their credit though, OSU made some amazing shots. The winning shot was sick. That was the team everyone predicted would win the B1G--they showed up on their last game.

Can't blame the refs on that.

  • What I don't get is how in the hell do we get f'd by the refs at HOME? I expect it on the road, but why does it seem like MSU never gets the benefit of friendly refs at home like everyone else does?

  • Craft fouled Appling by hand checking him every possesion. OSU was hacking, pushing and tripping off the ball all night long. Kraft reaches in and makes contact in the post all the time. I thought Dawson got slightly tripped or pushed and his foot hit the ground awkwardly, causing the injury.

  • It was amazing how OSU got "all ball" every time the chopped the ball out of our hands.

It's simple - by not being UM, OSU or Wisconsin.

what's funny is that now I am in KU country - the original blue bloods - they genuinely look at MSU as THE Big Ten team to reckon with and don't understand why OSU and Michigan get more positive press. They ask me all the time why the Big Ten doesn't hype the shit out of Izzo and MSU like the Big 12 does KU. I just shrug and say "ask Delaney." And they say, "but he's gone to zilly final fours and has the only big ten title in the last 20 years...seems like that's the program you'd want to pump up nationally."

and again I shrug and say...you'd think that, but you'd be wrong. Izzo's done that in SPITE of Delaney.

    Check the game-log: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/gametracker/playbyplay/NCAAB_20120304_OHST@MIST

He picked up his 5th foul at 7:10 left in the second half.

Fouls at 18:53, 3:33 in the first half 1st, Technical foul at 19:09 (counts as a personal), then fouls at 10:14 and 7:10..somehow he was in at the end.. Can't blame the officials on this one

he had 4, CBS is probably wrong. If he fouled out he would had kissed center court.

Techs don't count as personals, they just count against the foul limit

MSU will never be the benefactors of an "evenly" called game. They play more physical than the other team. When you play more physical, you're going to commit more fouls. It is what it is. I mean, we could turn into Northwestern and commit a lot less fouls, but we'd also give up a lot more baskets.

This. Stop blaming the officials. We didn't lose because of them, we lost because we couldn't guard Buford with Dawson hurt and our offense couldn't find that last bucket. Game over. That's life, it happens, get over it.

The season isn't over, it is just beginning. This is still an Izzo coached team and it is March...

Why did it count against Illinois? He went from one foul to 3 with the charge and tech.

  • It's funny, you know. I wish Hightower actually reffed this game. Give me big east officials in the tourney please. ACC officials are meh, bc they are more finesse. SEC, they don't even know how to play basketball in that conference, outside UK. Please hear my prayers basketball g-ds (outside of Izzo bc he feels my pain).

Page 46: "A disqualified player is one who is barred from further participation
in a game after receiving a fifth foul, including personal fouls, (men)
CLASS A technical fouls and (women) all technical fouls."

Class A Fouls are defined as "unsporting conduct" (Page 153). I think Draymond qualifies.

There may have been an error on the CBS game tracker, but I don't think there was. I was confused watching the game, too.

I was kind of confused too. I can't imagine something this important went unnoticed during a huge game. Can someone clarify?
