I feel bad for KC. How is he going to get the reps to learn the position when RG3 will be given a cram course by everyone on the team? They need RG4 to succeed NOW. They already have a backup in case RG3 gets rung out. Kirk will be ghost. Awful spot for him.

Thing is KC will sit and learn. You know he has the work ethic, he has the smarts to digest the playback, and there is nothing wrong to not have to be " the guy". Face it DC has shirts and welcome billboards already. Rgiii is going to have a ton of pressure on him. I think the three years Aaron Rodgers sat in green bay did wonders. I'm not trying to compare KC and Rodgers but I am saying sitting and watching sometimes is a good thing.

I have every confidence KC will wring everything he can out of the situation, but the Redskins have to put everything they can into making RG3 a success. RG3 is the opening day starter--he gets every crumb on the dinner table.
KC would have been much better off--like Hoyer--behind an established starter who can show him the ropes without worrying about losing his job.

There is no way that this was a smart move for the Redskins unless they plan to trade one of these guys...two rookie QB's makes no sense...this is worse than Stanton on the Lions chemistry wise...

Chemistry-wise? Their chemistry will be better than ever, RGIII and the Cap'n are two of the more charismatic players in the entire draft.
I'm wondering if they have a concern that isn't yet known to the public. Maybe a health issue or something was discovered at the combine (or even perhaps afterward?), so Cap'n Kirk is there just in case. Additionally, in 2 of RGIII's 4 seasons at Baylor he missed at least 1 game from injury. This could potentially be the exact reason they wanted Cousins; so that they could have an effective backup QB come in for those few games per year that they might think RGIII is prone to be missing.
For the record, RGIII is basically the only reason why Washington isn't a phenomenal fit for KC. A west coast offense (as Shanahan runs) is one that is very suitable to Cousins' skill set. The other thing that Shanahan is known for? Interior OL strength, which should reduce how often Cousins has to deal with his kryptonite: the interior pass rush.

I think it makes sense in taking him. This is the best guy to take to let RG3 develop without someone other than Kirk looking over RG3's shoulder and wanting RG3 to fail.
In other words, Kirk will be the backup, they both get along and know each other and will support each other. Kirk is smart and head of RG3 in progressions so he will help him develop and Cousins is the ultimate team guy.
They have already cut John Beck, and Rex Grossman is not going to help anyone on or off the field and he would have wanted to start.
If RG3 does goes down with an injury, Kirk steps in.
So in all aspects it is smart pick.
