lol, Boise State blog wondering if Sparty has found a QB yet

  • Considering the scoring that took place would seem at this point MSU Defense is a big play D it either makes a big play or gives it up !

Apparently he didn't read the part (that was posted in his own blog) that it was a modified scoring system...

  • After browsing their Rivals board, they are so cocky for a team who literally undergoing a huge overhaul. Already talking about how they have a clear advantage in DBs and how their LT (who didn't play last year) is going to manhandle Gholston.

  • As the guy whose claim to fame was starting the Denicos Allen photoshop thread, I have to admit that's some funny photoshopping.

  • Yeah, they sure are a loveable little program uhoh

It was inevitable. Arrogant just like most other fanbases. The problem is they've now forgotten they're some Mountain West trash on their way to playing Rutgers, Memphis and Navy in a BCS "Conference". You literally can't beat these dudes. Even if/when MSU wins (it will be close but I think MSU does by 7-10pts), there Boise will be at year's end 11-1 after beating the likes of San Jose State and UNLV saying they belong.

Hopefully their fans enjoy their trip to EL though as they've only played one other Big Ten school. Should be an exciting experience for their fans.

They're going to get the same rude awakening that Marshall got when they came into SS with their little mid major chests all puffed out.

  • To be fair, that is like our worst poster starting his own blog. And the "analysis" was plucked straight from a Madden chat board, with BSU players subbed in.

What is much, more more entertaining is the "Top Ten Reasons MSU can't Beat BSU" video. I knew it was going to be special when it opened with #10 being a RFrosh, complete with HS highlights...

  • "MSU is even more depleted then us and as far as QB’s go I firmly believe why Mark Dantonio has so quickly announced his starter following Cusins is because his cupboard is bare and believes his best hope is to put the leader tag now on Maxwell. No doubt MSU is loaded at LB they can bring the pain make no mistake but the rest of team is so depleted with truly little to no experience except at RB MSU finds itself one dimensional both defensively and offensively , any quality coaching staff is going to be able to game plan for it.

The MSU game is going to go one of two ways and both we have seen before 2008 in Eugene Or., or 2009 opening night in Boise. In the end Boise has too much talent with too much over all experience and least we forget the greatest coach in all the land!"

    Oh.

    My.

    Word.

State returns Hon. Mention or better All Big 10 players at 8 spots on D. 4 returning OL starters. But State's totally depleted. Holy hell that's funny stuff.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • They ask the question before the game: Has MSU found a QB? We will ask that same question of them after the game, after Gholston sends theirs to Sparrow.

  • MSU needs to send them back to Thursday nights where they belong. A night game in Spartan Stadium against this MSU defense is not going to be a very fun way for BSU to start their season.

    Its five o'clock somewhere.

  • I really think they are so used to pitting their vet. laden team against a very young BCS conference team to open the season, that they assume that they will always have a vet team, and all BCS conference teams they open with will be young.

BSU is the team that's retooling...not their opponents for once, and I think their fan base is having trouble with that notion.

  • So basically BSU fans are completely delusional and don't know college football. Got it.

    QFT

I (like the rest of America) had forgotten about Marshall and their cute little 20-game winning streak, or whatever it was. The Thundering Turds were talking a lot of trash before that game as well, and they got manhandled by a crappy Bobby Williams-coached team.

Boise State is going to get jailsexed.

I do like that while our LBs are the "heart" of our defense, the d-line and DBs have a way to go. Oh and apparently they don't realize that the scrimmages use modified scoring rules lol

Yea, those guys are clueless. I wish their coaching staff was that dumb. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case.

"look for Coach Pete to use lots of motion along with disguised max protection schemes to burn MSU with over the top deep plays using over all team speed and rout running. Using play action suck MSU LB’s to open up the middle for Gabe Lenhan as the out let combined with double moves on the outside to take advantage of overly aggressive MSU DB’s looking for the big over the top plays."

This is their counter to MSU's LBs. Last time I checked, State doesn't ask it's LBs to cover 25 yards downfield, and a Cover 4 scheme is designed to take away deep passes. If they're going "max-protect" that means they're going to have no more than 3 guys doing their speedy route-running. I'm ok with that.

I'm not sure what "overly aggressive MSU DB's looking for the big over the top plays" means. Over the top usually refers to over the top of the coverage shell, i.e., deep passes. When I think of an overly aggressive DB, I think of one that tries to jump a short to intermediate route, whiffs, and allows a 7 yard completion to turn into an 18 yarder by the time the next defender can get over to the missed assignment. I have no idea what they're trying to say here, unless they're saying that they'll take advantage of over aggressive MSU DBs "BY" looking for the big over the top plays.

They're also severely underestimating State's team speed on D. Yet again, another "the Big 10 is a plodding conference" stereotype line of thought.

Blast!! I hadn't thought about route running.. Damn it - Do we have enough time?

  • Not too worried about our Defense vs their Offense. Their QB is going to have his first start as a college QB at night in Spartan Stadium. Thats daunting enough. Pack that on top of the fact that the place will be going nuts after the hype for this year coming off of a 10 win season and a bowl victory vs an SEC team, and unveiling the new scoreboards. Then pack that on top of 9 starters returning from a Top 5 defense last year? I think I need to change my shorts just thinking about being in that QB's position.

I'm more worried about our offense. I know their defense is young, but Boise always has seemed to get pressure on the QB with their front 4. But it always seemed their ends were deep in the opponents backfield, hopefully we can just run it up the gut with Bell and get to the second level where he can run through their LBs/DBs
