  • Starting now! Edgar is back and it looks like the Cornelia Marie is back as well.

  • Actually the Cornellia Marie is not back. Josh is working on the Time Bandit. Said he couldn't afford to bring the boat back up

  • And Jake the Northwestern. Good spots for both the guys.

  • Great first episode. Previews look like it's going to be an entertaining season.

  • Over/under on how many episodes until Keith screws something up and screams at the crew?

From what I read, the Cornelia Marie is in docks getting an overhaul and repairs, and will be there a while.

Tony Lara, who Captained the boat last season is still on board, overseeing the repairs and overhaul.

The Harris boy's are a minority owner in the CM, if they can't fund their share of a fishing season, I highly doubt they keep their share of the boat much longer, considering they basically made no money last season, and I'm sure they pissed away any money they made prior to Phil's passing.

Yeah and Jake wants to be a captain. We will see how he does on the Northwestern. I am also guessing though that Phil had a good chuck of change that the boys inherited. They will probably sell their shares of the boar and work as deckhands on another boat.

Sure looks like it. I love this show and this season looks like some interesting stuff if going to happen.

guy is such a dick. lets his crew fill the boat with king crab pots, then just as they finish he comes out and tells them to pull them all off and fill the boat with blue crap pots. I'm surprised no one walked off right there.

Yeah I can't stand Keith. If I was a deckhand no way do I let some 5'6" fat dude get in my grill without walking away with a mouthful of teeth. No job is worth that treatment.

Cannot stand Idiot, I mean Elliot. Jr. is so cool, but he looked ticked in the last episode.

I laughed at Elliott saying he should of kicked jrs butt in port. Jr would destroy that punk.

i would be pissed to0. guy calls you out and makes a $1000 bet. when the guy realizes he sucks at life and tries to piggy back on your hardwork and set his pots right next to yours. Also from watching a lot of these seasons where it has happened, every skipper flips out if someone puts any pots around yours. The gentleman's code. Old School. Respect. Something that D-Bag knows nothing about.

And as Keith explained when he had some drift near Phil's a couple of years ago, it doesn't really make sense. It hurts you both to do that. Which is why their radar systems show where the fleet is setting their pots so that you can avoid other boats' pots.

I picked that up from watching the show. Elliott runs one of the boats and doesn't know that?? lol

The Ramblin Rose's owners are morons.

  • Intense episode last night. Can't believe we have to wait until next week to find out what happens. GRRRR

Still, possibly the best episode ever. At least since Phil caught Jake stealing his pain meds. Or when Jonathan shoved Keith!

  • The kid had a stroke. We watched the video in rounds this morning. The Coast Guard has some of the best medics in the world. Nothing they could do, he needed brain surgery.

  • I don't know yet, I heard he passed away. The first three hours are key. A stroke victim needs surgery in that time frame or permanent brain damage will ensue. It depends what kind of stroke he had, and the severity of the clot or bleed. His signs/symptoms were textbook stroke.

Yeah I became all too familiar with strokes this past fall when my Grandma had one and they gave her the drug (can't think of the name) in Port Huron and then took her all the way to St. Joe's in Pontiac, I am the only in my family near that area so I met her there and had to give all the information and sign everything. Strokes are weird, they told us to call the rest of the family to say goodbye and that there were clots all over her brain that they couldn't take out because it would be too dangerous. The next morning it was like nothing ever happened. The night of the stroke we would ask her how she felt and she would answer "Tomato". And had no idea who any one was, and that was when she was conscience. The next morning I walked in and she remembered who I was and how many great grandkids she had, she was just a little weak. So who knows, strokes are very weird from my experiences with them. Even Dr's can't figure them out a lot of times, I saw the Doctor the next morning and when he saw me he started smiling, I think it was a rare win for him, because he was really happy when telling me the updates.

The weird thing about the guy on the show is how young he is, and he didn't seem to be in bad shape. When Cap't phil had the clots you could see it coming. Overweight, sat a lot, and smoked like a chimney.

They likely gave her blood thinners. They give fibrinolytics to prevent further clots. Lidocaine is another one to prevent futher ICP.

The early signs of stroke are very important. Your Grandma likely had a brain bleed the whole time. It was likely small with little or no symptoms. It elevated into something bigger. She likely had brain damage from decreased blood flow to the brain. The catch with strokes are, if you don't get to the hospital within 3 hours they can't give fibrinolytics. All those clots he mentioned would get lodged deeper in the cerebral arteries.

He was young, but head trauma presents the same way. Elecrtolyte imbalance can also present that way. He had facial droop, so my guess is stroke. We were all stumped for a minute.
