It'll be Choose Your Reliever From Toledo tomorrow. Below, Villarreal and Coke all went over an inning.
Valverde and Crosby just put their team behind the 8 ball tomorrow. Very damaging loss considering who won't be available tomorrow.

I get the whole - don't pitch your loser in a 10-2 game. There is no pressure and many closers need to thrive off the pressure to pitch well.
However a tie ball in extra innings at home. Same situation. He just blew it.

Notso Grande. He has not had a good year. Sorry, but he just hasn't. had a very good year. Last 10 games his ERA is 3.95. That just sucks for a closer.

Tigers option M. Young and C. Crosby to Toledo. Fister reinstated on Saturday. Thad Weber will be recalled from Toledo on Saturday (Brian Britten, Twitter)
Remember Thad Weber? You wouldn't have to if Crosby hadn't doomed the bullpen or if Valverde could have just moderately failed and kept Marte on the bench.
Fister needs to be really, really good tomorrow-and healthy.

Thing is, Crosby is a minor league pitcher on a minor league salary. Valverde is a veteran who is paid $9M/yr to be a closer. Yes, Crosby screwed the bullpen, but I wasn't really surprised. Notso Grande, that's different.
