do you really not understand the concept of free agency? the player is free to sign with whomever will have him for however much they are willing to pay. for all we know the Lions would have ponied up the $$ but he wanted to go to TB anyway. he was a FREE AGENT. FAs leave teams every year. it happens.
what you can't do is pay them obscene amounts of money to stay or lure them away from someone else just to fill a roster spot. Mayhew is running a tight ship an it's working. you can't argue with results.

So should they have kept Wright or not? You're kind of playing both sides, wasn't this originally about how "that guy from Cleveland" was no good and what happened to him anyway? I think the Lions wanted to keep him, but when you've got to resign Calvin Johnson and Cliff Avril, you have to set some priorities. Do you really think there are two picks that would prevent the Packers from lighting us up? Maybe if Deion Sanders was in the draft, he would help. I don't think that a late 2nd round pick is going to make much difference against the packers either way. As a matter of fact, attacking the packers weakness, their defense, might be the best way to beat them.

Reiff was a great pick IMO. Better value there than any CB available at that point. Once Kirkpatrick was off the board, none of those other DBs had first round value. Should have gotten a DB in Round 2 though.

You take Jenkins with pick 23 and you upgrade your secondary immediately. If you haven't noticed, the Packers have drafted all defense this year. They are addressing their needs.

No, you implied that Eric Wright was a bad player and that the Lions either released him or didn't resign him because he was bad. And that getting players of Eric Wright's quality in Free Agency instead of drafting a CB can't work, yet Eric Wright basically outperformed every CB from last year's draft class except Patrick Peterson.

Do you really not think OT was an area of need? Backus is coming off biceps surgery and is 34. Gosder is below average. OT was a major need.
