You forgot the critical part of Theon feeling up (and down) his sister. On a horse. Bobby Petrino style.

I started laughing my rear off during that part, and my gf, who hasn't read the books, caught on that there was something up with that.

Balon could be Walder Frey's brother.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • They did a great job with the casting of the new important characters, especially Davos and Balon. I guess they didn't cast the Blackfish or any other Tully this season for some reason. I'm anxiously awaiting Patchface this season, but I don't know if they casted him either. Th scene with arya, hot pie and gentry talking about battles and armor was hilarious.

    Davos is awesome.

    Sallador Saan was hilarious.

I wasn't expecting Melisandre to get naked at all, let alone in episode 2. Not complaining; Stannis looked hilariously uncomfortable (great actor for his part).

I loved the Tyrion / Janos Slynt beatdown.

Not sure where they're going with Ros the Whore.

A tad bit of Cersei's paranoia is creeping in. Good to see.

On another board I read they call her 'Ros the Exposition Whore'. She provided tons of background info in Season 1.

FWIW, i think Shae is in the Red Keep right now, another deviation from the books.

They don't use Rorge or Biter's names yet. H'ghar looks appropriate, especially with the half white half red hair.

Not sure why they felt compelled to show more of Craster. They need to get going out of there.

I didn't think Stannis' wife was sick and was actually one of the main people leading the "Lord of Light" movement".

She's definitely in the Red Keep as Tyrion says "Ned Stark slept on this bed." That's a very serious deviation from the book as Tyrion spends a great deal of time trying to hide her.

Others I noticed were selyse baratheon and the reference to her giving Stannis "nothing" and ignoring their daughter.

Also, I'm 95% sure Bronn wasn't the Commander of the City Watch. Some other hand chosen Tyrion lacky was.

No Bronn wasnt Commander. I think the writers did that so the viewers get more exposure to Bronn and so that they don't have to introduce a new character.

Based on appearance alone, I really dislike the actor who was cast to play Stannis. He is consistently described as being a lot more 'gruff' looking. I think his no nonsense personality would be easier to accept if he were to have been bearded and more imposing.

I think her character has run its course. Other than being nice to look at she provides nothing for the show. Instead of focusing on Robb, Cat, Jaime, Sansa, or Joff, they have a 5 minutes scene with Ros crying and LF talking again. I think by now ppl know LF is a little shit and is only looking out for himself. We don't need another monologue from him. Hopefully they start moving away from her.

  • Yeah, the casting of The Onion Knight and Sallador Saan was effing perfect. And when Tyrion named Bronn as Slynt's replacement I was seriously confused for a second. I'm so torn. I love the series and think season two has been great so far, but the deviation from the storyline is still kind of pissing me off.

Bronn wasn't . . . and Slynt wasn't the one who killed the baby. That was Allar Deem, the man Slynt recommends to take his place as commander of the Watch when Slynt goes to take over Harrenhal. In response, Tyrion sends Slynt and Deem to the Wall, with instructions to kill Deem on the way. I think Ser Someone (Jaclyn?) Bywater takes over the Watch, and Bronn is just the head of Tyrion's guards.

I wonder if the visit from Varys is going to prompt him to hide Shae . . . maybe with Ros instead of Chataya?

Totally agree that based on physical appearance alone Stephen Dillane and his appearance in the show is not at all how I imagined Stannis considering how he is described in the book. I like his approach to the character thus far though as he has done an excellent job portraying just how brooding and humorless Stannis is in the books. Even though he isn't what I envisioned initially, Dillane as Stannis is slowly growing on me.

I tend to agree. I even think she was a bit contrived as the exposition whore in season 1...

  • There seems to be a lot of re-visioning going on, probably in an effort to keep down the numbers of cast members required to cover the complexity of the books. It looks like the John Snow story is going to diverge quite a bit from the books over the next few weeks.

Well then it looks like my plan to start reading the books AFTER 2 seasons of the show is going to pay off. I started watching the series last year for the simple fact that the previews looked epic and then found out there would be tons of killing and of course bewbs. I am rather enjoying the show as is and have to snicker a bit at the book readers watching wondering why "this person isn't right, this sequence isn't right, etc." It sounds like my viewing experience of the series as a "newb" to the story is more enjoyable than the books first crowd.

I think this just gets the Watch from Craster's to their next location, aka, "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here" . . . likely said with an axe or six.

This is how I'm viewing it. I watched the first season, and am now listening to the books. It feels like I'm getting more information, by doing books after, as opposed to losing out on something seeing it go from book to screen.

To me, it's pretty fun seeing how they've re-imagined some things. I like the surprise. The only thing I thought was a bit odd was Bronn becoming captain of the Gold Cloaks. The character that Tyrion appointed in the books was involved with some events later in the series that, for reasons I can't divulge because of spoilers, Bronn can't really be worked into seamlessly.
