Yes, unfortunately they do. This sucks for me because my roommate is a Chelsea fan, while I'm a very bitter Barca supporter.

Some keepers feel more comfortable than others. Pretty sure Rogerio Ceni and Jose Luis Chilavert would also be dynamite penalty takers. But it's definitely a rarity.

Unbelievable. Chelsea has to be the one of the worst teams to win the Champions League ever. I just hate it when a team that parks the bus in front of the net wins a championship of any sort...

Bayern absolutely choked that one away. Up 1-0 late in regulation, had a lead in penalties...shat the bed.
Biggest positive here is that Tottenham won't be playing Champion's League football next season.

Totally agree with you. I'd love to see some sort of comparison between the success rate of PKs with stutter steps/misdirection etc. and PKs not taken like a total pussy.

Uncommon, but not uncommon enough that you'd be shocked.
Rogerio Ceni and Jose Luis Chilavert were both their teams' main PK takers (as in, they would also take them during a regular game) at various times in their careers. They actually also took free kicks at times. Jorge Campos and Federico Vilar also took penalties for their teams sometimes (usually only in shootouts like Neuer).
Here's Ceni scoring his 100th (yes, ONE HUNDREDTH) goal.

This reminds me of when Greece won the Euro by having 9 defenders in their own box at all times and just hoping Angelos Charisteas would luck into a goal. Drogba played the role of Charisteas in this episode of the "Crap Team Wins a Championship" series.

Rare tidbit, but yeah. He was a backup goalie but was good enough to play quite a bit as a striker. Later in his career, he would play up top sometimes whenever his team was missing a striker due to injury or suspension, and sometimes with Mexico during friendlies. The dude could've been a very good pro striker, no problem. He scored some incredible goals like this one:

Schweinstager has to be devasted after that. Bavaria-native has a chance to put Bayern Munich one step closer to winning the CL in Munich and he knocks one off the post? Damn, that's harsh.

As a Barca fan, all I could really ask for was a good game, and honestly, the second half and the extra time was epic. First half sucked, but after that the game was very entertaining.
