  • Portland is probably best in the league. After that, Seattle is very good, Toronto, KC, are probably next. Then RSL, NYRB. Maybe I'm missing some but that's who I've seen to have really good support this year. I'm heading to the SKC game on Friday vs. Chicago, I'll try to grab a video from the middle of the members stand.

  • couple of titbits.... looks like Rangers are basically finished..... the old club has in been liquidated and the "Newco" rangers has been born in its place....

they needed 8 clubs to support the inclusion of the new Rangers into the top flight SPL.... but Aberdeen,Hearts,Dundee United,Hibernians,St Johnstone and Inverness have all said they will say no...

so it looks like they will need to apply to the SFL... and may well now start in Division 3.... and the make things worst it looks as if now at least 8 players have said they will not transfer contracts to the new club....thus making them free agents....

Sad story.... Celtic to win the league by ~30 points. Scottish Football, already a peripheral thought in the world of UEFA, is nothing without the Old Firm rivalry.

actually watched that game after the game at the euros finished last night and have to say I was impressed by the portland fans last night... are there many other sets of fans like that (the green flares were a nice touch!! lol)... I know Toronto's fans are suppose to be "high" on the mad scale....

no.. not all derbys are based on geography... but most of them are.... I suppose you would call "el classico" a derby between real madrid and Barcelona

The Portland fans are, hands down, the best fan base in MLS. I, sadly, moved away before they got into the "big leagues" but I've attended a few matches when visiting and they are a lot of fun. The Timber Army take no prisoners and travel very well. The rivalry with Seattle is pretty intense and I've seen punches thrown.

As a SKC fan I say F you arfabe. But yea, he's not coming. He was set to go to Villareal until they got relegated but his heart is still set on Spain. Maybe He can beg Barca's B-team to let him play with his brother.

He's not going to Barca's B-team (unless they want to overpay him for no reason). Plus JdS wants to make the A-team, doesn't want any distractions. Giovani is in his contract year, so it's guaranteed that he will play. Tottenham will run him out enough times to give them something to actually sell (alternatively to re-sign him, but who knows how him and the new manager will feel).

Then again, if some team offers at least 5 million euros, Spurs might just let him go.

Joey Barton manages to not get dismissed from QPR, but has been fined 6 weeks wages in addition to the 75K fine already on the books, and will miss the first 12 weeks of the season (announced previously). Looks like he should be reinstated just in time for the November 24th match at Old Trafford.

Joey Barton is a piece of shit.

Seattle fans are good. LA's Riot Squad is high entertainment though. I went to a Chicago-LA match several years ago at Soldier Field. About 20 Riot Squad members had made the trip and they spent a solid 40 minutes screaming "Hey Sampson, I fucked your daughter!" at LA's coach.

Fans in Columbus are pretty good, too. Never been to a Crew match, but I saw the US beat Mexico there in 2004. 45 straight minutes of "Dirty Sanchez" chants directed at Mexico's keeper. He noticed.

  • Saw Roma destroy that Polish JV team in Wrigley field in person. Awesome venue.

The panorama shots of Roma-Liverpool tonight at Fenway were equally impressive.

Roma didn't look so bad either biggrin

    Always Smooth.

  • Very nice to see Michael Bradley score as well. Now hopefully the MLS can pull this one out. Actually a pretty solid starting lineup.
