Does anyone know which surgery he had? Mine was the patella. IIRC, it was about 2 - 3 weeks of being laid up, with the first 4 or 5 days in a immobilizer. I still have no feeling in the right side of my shin on my right leg. I don't remember everything that clearly, but after about 3 months I was walking normally, and I would say 6 months back to smaller activities. I'm by no means an athlete, and in the back of my mind I'm still nervous walking down stairs and making sharp turns, its just psychological, but I would imagine with the type of physical therapy and support he is going to get, he should be back to 90% by the fall, maybe sooner. If they did a cadaver, I think the recovery time is even quicker.
Now knowing what 1995 is like all over again! Thank you 247 technology!!

When is the earliest posible day(roughly)that BJ could get back on the court and start playing? I'm told ACL injuries take 4-6 months to heal, so could we be looking at mid to late july? that would be awesome! giving him atleast a little summer to get back in shape and work on his game!
The good thing about this is that he wont be like Kalin coming off his achilles injury, we needed him to score/run the team right away, I feel like with the depth we have next year we can ease Dawson back into playing shape and let him get comfortable again. Get well soon big guy!

Get well soon. I have to say I'm still shocked this surgery happened so quick. It has to be a solid sign towards a good recovery that the swelling was so minimal he could have it this fast. What is the word on the ACL? Was it a partial or full tear?

The toughest thing about the ACL is trusting your leg to pivot and turn sharply. At least it is/was for me. He needs to listen to his PT and not push too quickly to give it enough time to heal. I'd rather him take the whole summer off and start practicing in the fall with a fully healed ACL, than push to come back asap before being 100%. I'm not sure if Hummel's tears were both freak things or how long he rehabbed for, but if he came back sooner than he should have Dawsen needs to take that into consideration.

Dawson's surgery happened MUCH sooner than other ACL cases. Very little swelling, apparently. This is very lucky. Dawson should make a full recovery in a limited amount of time.
As long as he eases into the season, he should be fine by the time any meaningful basketball is played.

I'm not sure if this is an appropriate question to ask here but, is this injury / surgery the same as Delvon in High School?
For me, a lot of the trepidation about this injury has a lot to with the impact that it had on Roe's development and career. I know a lot of guys tear ACLs and go on to very successful careers in sports, but our most recent memory of knee issues did not turn out well. I'm really just hoping BJ has better luck than Delvon did in this regard.
