OFFICIAL LEAGUE RULES
If you've got some ideas for rule changes, let me hear 'em. Nothing is set in stone. This is our league.

THE ESSENTIALS

1. COMMUNICATION: Posting on this message board is vital. Start setting up your human vs. human games as early as possible after each advance. Enjoy some friendly banter. Get into some gentlemanly arguments. Just keep posting.

2. ADVANCES: The league will advance every 72 hours (probably when I go to bed around 2 a.m. central). You'll always have three full days to get your games and recruiting in before the next advance. The date of the next advance will always be posted.

3. EXTENSIONS: We'll go with our old extension policy. If you need an extra 24 hours, you can request an extension. If there are 12 hours remaining before the next advance (generally around noon on the third day), and you haven't requested an extension, and/or you haven't made a good attempt to set up a game time with your opponent, your opponent can request that you be placed on autopilot. He'll then procede to beat your CPU-controlled team by four touchdowns. Now, I also realize shit comes up, and I'm not exactly ruling with an iron fist here. People have jobs, and we'll try to make sure your undefeated season doesn't get ruined because you had to take a four-day business trip to Topeka. Just make sure you're posting here. See rule No. 1.

4. DISCONNECTS: Happen. I trust the returning league members to be honest. I had one or two last season. No idea whether they were my fault or my opponent's. Don't get into an argument over who was winning, who gets the ball first, and who is to blame. Just post the score and the time/quarter of the disconnect, and then start the game over. If it makes you feel better to post a picture of the screen, go ahead, but this really isn't a big issue to me. If you're intentionally disconnecting when you're getting your ass kicked, we're going to wise up to it, and you'll get the boot.

5. BAD CONNECTIONS: If you're having a particularly laggy game in the early minutes feel free to pause, message your opponent, and try to start over. Just make sure it's a mutual thing. If you're a consistently laggy opponent you might be honorably discharged from the league.

6. GAME RESETS: Will not be tolerated. Provide an explanation within 24 hours if you get disconnected during a game vs. the computer. Don't start a game if you don't have time to finish it. If you reset a game simply because you're losing, you're out.

OTHER STUFF

1. FAIR PLAY: Everyone has his own style. Playing your way is encouraged. What won't be tolerated includes, but is not limited to:

*Running up the score
*Chewing clock before the 4th quarter
*Unrealistic onside kick/fourth down attempts
*Excessive QB scrambling/20-yard dropbacks
*Putting players in particularly unusual positions
*Taking advantage of any glitches that are sure to surface (like last year's backward pump fake); etc.

Basically, don't do things that you don't see in a normal football game, and don't be a dick.

2. SPORTSMANSHIP: Ties in with fair play. Come to the board and tell your opponent good game, win or lose. Unless there's something really fishy going on, don't accuse your opponent of cheesing. If there's something you really have a problem with, upload a video (use the wire or press box cam).

3. OFFSEASON PROCEDURES: To be determined. It worked out really well last year when we knocked it all out in one night, but that's a difficult thing to arrange. We'll see how things are going after Season 1.

4. SCHEDULING: I'll take scheduling requests. You can request one FCS game, non-conference rivals (if available), and one Top-25 game. The rest of your schedule will be MAC City, Baby. No one will be playing two FCS games
