Oh happy day. Successfully preordered the 32gb in blue for Verizon, kept my grandfathered unlimited data, got some completely unexpected $130 discount, and in at most a month I get to ditch this atrocious Palm Pixi Plus for a real phone.

I thought new every 2 ended quite a while ago. I have zero idea what the discount is for.
As for the activation fee, you could always try calling customer service to ask to have it waived. Lots of people who do that and are sweet and friendly to their CS rep are successful from what I hear.

I went back and reread the Verizon NE2 FAQ, and the chance to apply it after it ended was a 6 month window in like 2009, so it seems very unlikely that it would be valid.
Actually, after a little more reading, I realized that the phone, which I kept in my dad's name since he's an MSU employee and gets a discount on the per-month voice plan, says "special discounts on phones." That must be where all of the $130 is coming from.

Did you drop the extra 50 on the 32gb? Well worth it in my opinion. I'm biased because I've been living with a craptacular Pixi for almost a year, but there is no way that this is not going to be the best tech upgrade ever for me.

So I got my upgrade back in September or so and I am still grandfathered into my unlimited plan. What would I need to do to upgrade to this phone? I've never upgraded when I didn't have the promo or what not.

My upgrade was in November 2010, and obviously I'm still months short of that two-year commitment. I think the way they do it (at ATT at least) is make you pay extra to pay for the time remaining on the current contract. It's all politics (aka bullshit), especially when great phones are coming out like gangbusters every few months.
