  • Do you think they will be in stores on the 20th as well?

From what I've read Europe had 9 million on order. I think they will be tough to get in stores, maybe each store will have 5 - 10. Starting price point is $199. As long as I can keep my unlimited data, I'll renew.

  • I'm buying one off-contract on Verizon. I hate my Droid RAZR so much. I need to get another Samsung and stick with them.

  • Sprint is apparently starting pre-orders tomorrow, with June 21 as the release date.

Smart move before too many people pull the trigger on the new EVO LTE. It will give me a chance to compare the two before making a decision.

  • Oh happy day. Successfully preordered the 32gb in blue for Verizon, kept my grandfathered unlimited data, got some completely unexpected $130 discount, and in at most a month I get to ditch this atrocious Palm Pixi Plus for a real phone.

So, you have to pre-order for every carrier? panic

Was the discount from the new every 2? I've held off ordering today because I'm still pissed about the $30 activation fee.

It was just to guarantee that I got grandfathered into unlimited data and a subsidized phone on Verizon before they came out with shared data plans.

As for other carriers, I have zero idea whether there would be such shortages that you'd want to preorder. If you weren't in my situation and could wait a bit, it might be worth seeing if Amazon or Wirefly will stack any additional discounts before or soon after launch.

I thought new every 2 ended quite a while ago. I have zero idea what the discount is for.

As for the activation fee, you could always try calling customer service to ask to have it waived. Lots of people who do that and are sweet and friendly to their CS rep are successful from what I hear.

If you hadn't used the new every 2 before they ended it you still get the discount. I still get the discount but it is offset by the activation fee. $130 seems high, did you know yuo were getting the discount before you got to the end of the ordering process?

I went back and reread the Verizon NE2 FAQ, and the chance to apply it after it ended was a 6 month window in like 2009, so it seems very unlikely that it would be valid.

Actually, after a little more reading, I realized that the phone, which I kept in my dad's name since he's an MSU employee and gets a discount on the per-month voice plan, says "special discounts on phones." That must be where all of the $130 is coming from.

I guess there's a chance the MSU discount is $100 and the 30 from NE2 was folded into it.

  • I'm weak. I gave in and decided I can cancel before they ship if I don't want it.

Did you drop the extra 50 on the 32gb? Well worth it in my opinion. I'm biased because I've been living with a craptacular Pixi for almost a year, but there is no way that this is not going to be the best tech upgrade ever for me.

No, I figure with the removable storage I can always get another mini disk. This isn't an iphone.

  • So I got my upgrade back in September or so and I am still grandfathered into my unlimited plan. What would I need to do to upgrade to this phone? I've never upgraded when I didn't have the promo or what not.

plus you can just upload all your music to the google cloud and stream your entire music collection instead of loading it all onto your phone

Best you can do is to buy your new phone at retail price, then sell your current phone.

My upgrade was in November 2010, and obviously I'm still months short of that two-year commitment. I think the way they do it (at ATT at least) is make you pay extra to pay for the time remaining on the current contract. It's all politics (aka bullshit), especially when great phones are coming out like gangbusters every few months.

Sadly enough, the last time I downloaded any music had to be around 2005. It might come in handy if you can upload movies or tv shows though.

You should already be good to go. Im pretty sure 18 months you can get an upgrade. It might even be less than that. I bought the moto ATRIX in March 2011 and im eligible to upgrade now.

There is a # you can't text to check on your upgrade eligibility or you can login to your AT&T account online to check.

I want this phone but I really want to see it in person before buying / ordering. Some pics the Pebble Blue looks like a brushed metal, others it looks ... not good.
